i have been a vegetarian for 4 months now. And well I was hiding it from my carnivorous father. He finally found out tonight when i would not eat turkey he was dangling in front of my face. Now he thinks i am miss informed and following the trends. Which is bull. But in order for him to even THINK about supporting me, i have to write a stupid ESSAY/REPORT to support my decision. Where the hell do i start? Errrrrrh.
BTW i am 17 so its not like i am a 12 year old. i can make my own decisions.

If your parents are asking for you to explain why, that at least sounds reasonable. I mean, if you understand vegetarianism, I'm sure you can knock out an essay.
Now, if you have a job and are buying/cooking your own food, I would probably dispute having to write an essay on it. Otherwise, your parents sound like they're giving you a chance to express yourself, and I'd take it.

Well, it looks like you have more than just a vege problem.
Are you trying to tell us that you live in the same home as your parents and it took them 4 MONTHS to figure out you became a vegetarian?? and now your Dad is making WRITE AN ESSAY to convey your thoughts?
Your family needs some serious counseling if what you say is true.
Where do you start? At the beginning of course. Tell them why and go from there.

Well, what were your reasons for going vegetarian? List those. Try to take out any overly emotional appeals, save for you feel it's the right decision for you. Or say something like, because of what I learned, I feel can no longer eat meat.

ww.vrg.org has nutritional information that will ensure your family that you can be a healthy vegetarian.
I have to say you shouldn't have hidden your vegetarianism. You might have done better had you told your parents from the beginning that you wanted to be vegetarian.
It seems you are already taking care of some of your needs--food, etc. Offer to cook dinner once a week for your family so they can see how delicious vegetarian food can be.

Being a vegetarian or vegan isn't exactly trendy. In fact it's more trendy to be a flexitarian (which is someone who is a vegetarian in private but eats meat meals in front of people on various occasions; or vice versa).
Just tell your dad how serious you are about it and why.

Why would you give them the satisfaction, unfortunately there is very little REAL reason to why other then environmental factors of coarse. That is choice that you are making about what you put into your body and no one can force you to eat it or to prove yourself. I do eat meat, I will always eat meat because no one has told me a single completely truthful fact that has lead to conclude eating meat is bad and that is my choice, no vegetarian will force me or convince me to become a vegetarian and I would never try to force you to eat meat or justify your decision. Try talking to your family and emphasize how disrespectful it is to wave food in your face.

Tell your doctor to talk to your dad. He can explain the nutrition aspects a lot better than you can.
And at 17, your parents can't really force you to eat anything. So just refuse to eat it in the meantime. What are they going to do, let you starve?

the options are endless about what to write... there is so much to know about it, so if you need help, search online, that's usually the best source, but it depends on your reason for not eating meat (health/ animal rights, or both), but i wish you luck with the essay...

Wow, that sucks. I'm glad to be bore from blue collar workers. Lucky for you there is plethera of knowledge out of there. Now its up to you about what you want to write about. Spiritually, nutritionally ethically, morally, environmentally, the themes are endless. But you should pick up one and go from there. If anything explain what he is lookin for and i'm sure someone here will send you in the right direction
