I don't think so, but then again I didn't think White potatoes would be and they are.

I don't know. I am dubious about the concept of mucous-forming foods. I don't know why white potatoes should be either. . I don't think Ehret was right-on in his thinking about mucus. However, I would not think potatoes would make a great primary food. They are gassy and contain alkaloids. But you want mucus my friend, eat a chocolate bar and get to know what is mucus! Drink ice cold milk directly from the carton standing at the refrigerator--then you will see mucus.

I have to agree with Richard, I don't think there is any such thing.

I just ran a search and the websites that mention it are from herbalists and naturopaths--no medical doctors or dietitians.

I finished one year of nursing school. A student said someone about "milk being a mucus forming food." The teacher said it isn't, but dairy products might cause some people to have thicker mucus.

I could see how somebody might increase mucus if they ate something they are allergic to, but a food that causes everybody to produce mucus?
That just doesn't sound right.

Some people get a runny nose when they hot peppers, but I'm not sure if that's what they mean by "mucus forming."

I'll ask my wife about it tonight, she is a Registered Dietitian with Masters Degrees in Nutrition and Biology, and she would know. If she says she never heard it, I'm going to be inclined to say there isn't any such thing--she is very knowledgeable.
