Technically "no" as it is an animal product. However, in order to get enough protein, a lot of vegetarians are "ovo-lacto" meaning they do consume diary and egg products.

I have recently decided that there is no such thing as vegetarian, only flexitarian and vegan. therefore egg is flexitarian, but the use of eggs will very per flexitarian.
Anyway, that was just a joke answer for the regulars. Egg can be vegetarian, but it is not vegan.
I would add that if this is for your own diet, you should research how we get eggs ect and decide for yourself if you want to eat them, if this is because you have a friend who is vegetarian and maybe you are cooking for them or something, ask them, because it isn't the same for everyone.

It's hard to say, it's just the byproduct of the chicken's menstruation; it's the human version of a woman passing her egg every month... except minus all that blood...
I'd say it shouldn't be vegetarian, but many people let it be because it's an easier way to get some nutrients than to try to find plant sources...

Personally, i think Egg is a non vegetarian food.
Because, a chicken comes out from a hatched egg. So, you are eating a bird which is not yet got it's shape or on the way to it's evolution
AGAIN, THIS IS MY PERSONAL BELIEF.

Vegetarian, yes; vegan, no.
Theoretically, it is possible to have an egg without killing the hen. In practice, many birds die to produce eggs--from the baby male layer chicks killed at birth (because they don't lay eggs and don't grow big enough fast enough to be profitable as meat) to the hens killed when their production declines after a year or two of being crammed in a battery cage with five to seven other hens.

I am a vegiarian and I eat eggs. Technically, it's not considered a meat. Vegans don't eat them though because it is an animal product.

Absolutely! Egg is NOT meat, but it isn't vegan. It's common to mix those 2 up. Not all vegetarians are vegan, or eat no dairy products or foods with dairy in them.

there are different levels of vegetarianism.
A Vegan does not eat any animal, or products that have come from an animal. However, if they are octo-lovo then they do eat eggs and drink milk and all that jazz...I am one of them (I love ice cream too much to give it up)

eggs don't harm the chicken however commercialized egg farms do, buy free range egg to ensure the chickens are treated well.
