I've made several pies over the holidays and the filling is runny. I've made pecan, caramel and chocolate and the filling did not "set" in any of them..taste was great, they just looked like heck. What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking for the recipe for those big cookies with icing that you find in grocery store bakery's.

I bought one at Wal-Mart last week...it's called "Message Cookie 12 inch".

I would love to make one myself.

Any help?

my son goes to visit his father at 4:00 and he usually fails to feed him dinner(he arives home at 8:00 hungry & telling me he didnt eat anything), so its got to be something that will fill him up and that he'll eat.
I'm out of ideas and he never tells me what he wants, just what he doesnt want.

He is three, likes pasta... chicken... certain veggies but is picky, he likes fruit.

I've been invited to what I know will be a kick butt New Years Party. We will not be staying all night (my babies won't last and there's tons of crazies on the road)...BUT I still want to bring a great dish! I was thinking buffalo chicken dip, but my mom is bringing her most excellently hot buffalo wings so I need to think of something else. Any ideas? There will be about 30 of us there...my other thought was sweet/sour meatballs (bag premade meatballs 1 bottle chili sauce, 1 bottle currant jelly)....other thoughts?

Which type of filling do you prefer? What about the crust? Should it have pastry on the bottom or just have a top crust? Sweet or Savoury?

My family do not like spices/herbs/garlic or prepared sauces. I did look at a recipe book in smiths today but most were very fancy. Any plain ideas would be welcome, thanks.

We have a lovely rib of English beef just a shade over a kilogram (about 2.3 or 2.4 lbs) and were wondering how you lovely people think we should cook it (what herbs, spices etc to add to it, whether to add wine or ale, how long to bake or roast it and at what temperature etc)? Thank you for your suggestions in advance and have a great New Year.
