I'm looking for the recipe for those big cookies with icing that you find in grocery store bakery's.

I bought one at Wal-Mart last week...it's called "Message Cookie 12 inch".

I would love to make one myself.

Any help?

i'm not sure on the icing but i know my mom used to make them for my brother. she would by the pouch cookie mixes, make those up and just cook it in a pan similar to what they use. or i have seen that you can buy the dough and just spread it in the pan......good luck!

Just use the Toll House Pan Cookie recipe that's on the back of the morsel packages. Spread out the dough in a 12" pizza pan. It's possible you will need to adjust your cooking time (to less) because I think the pan will have a little more area than the usual 9"x13" pan you would usually cook them in. I'd start watching it with 10 minutes left on the pan cookie recipe cooking time.

Regular ol' Nestle Tollhouse Cookie Dough will work. You spread it into a circle (pizza) pan w/ an edge or lip on it. Let it cool a bit, then flip out. When completely cool, decorate w/ a stiff buttercream icing.

Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

2¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks or ½ pound) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (12-oz package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

PAN COOKIE VARIATION: PREPARE dough as above. Spread into greased 15"x10" jelly-roll pan. Bake in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack.

SNOW WHITE BUTTERCREAM ICING

This buttercream icing has an ideal consistency for frosting cakes. It has a firm quality making it good for wedding cake decorations and flat surface or flower nail flowers. Air dry decorations for 24 hours.

2/3 cup water
4 tablespoons meringue powder
12 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1-1/4 cups shortening
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla flavoring
1/4 teaspoon butter flavoring

Combine water and meringue powder; whip at high speed until peaks form. Add 4 cups of sugar, one cup at a time, beating after each addition at low speed. Alternately add shortening and remainder of sugar. Add salt and flavorings; beat at low speed until smooth.

YIELD: 7 cups icing. Recipe may be doubled or cut in half; however, if cut in half, yield is only 2-1/2 cups.
