For those of you who have tried this or for those of you who've actually made this pie, instead of making the brownie mix from scratch, do you use brownie mix from the store?? Also does it taste better making it from scratch or using the brownie mix, or is it about the same? I've never tried making it before, but I've had it before and I think it is absolutely delicious!!

My 27 year old single son is moving to his own apartment in February (always had roommates) and has just become really interested in cooking. I am giving him an enameled covered dutch oven for Christmas, but would also like to give him a fairly comprehensive cookbook with it. I was given the "Joy of Cooking" when I got married and it was a staple in my kitchen. However I have also been told that the Betty Crocker and/or Fannie Farmer cookbooks are best for beginners. Which cookbook would you choose if you could only choose one.

I need some low calorie/ fat options for side dishes with baked Italian chicken.

I am going to use Italian salad dressing and pour it over the chicken to bake it.

I was thinking about some steamed broccoli, but I would like some other suggestions as to what would go well with this dish.

I bake in a gas oven, a glass meatloaf pan with a bettycrocker receipte. It is always very raw in the middle, and burns the outside. Help. Once I just let it go, and the middle finally started to cook, and the outside was char. Ingrediate issues, pans, heat? I am almost giving up!

I saw a recipe that had stovetop stuffing as an ingredient in making sweedish meatballs, the the sauce was just beef gravy mixed with sour cream, it sounds easy to make,, has anyone ever made them this way? and how did they come out?

Basically what I have in mind is making black-eyed peas with the hambone, in the crock pot, then I want to freeze it there, and a day or two before actually heating it, I can place it in the fridge to slowly thaw, then put it on low to heat up again at the time I plan on serving this.

In the beginning, where Linguini messes the soup up, but Ratatouille fixes it. It looks like a white creamy soup.

Does anyone know what it is called or if it really is a real soup?

:D It looks amazingly good.
Thanks!

I just bought this yesterday for cooking not paying attention to the package. I haven't even opened it. Is it okay to use it when I have not used it for the fridge? It's the same as regular baking soda right? Thanks for answering!
