Hi Alisa here is one that I use>>take 3-4 yams/sweet potatoes peel and cut into 1/4 pieces and place into a pot; fill with enough water to cover them and cook them until 1/2 way done. Remove from the stove and pour out the water place the yams/sweet potatoes into a buttered dish add some pieces of butter onto of them along with some brown sugar(also some nutmeg if you wish but just a sprinkle) bake in a 350* until done at the last of the cooking place the marshmallows on top of the yams/ sweet potatoes then switch the oven to broil until the marshmallows turn brown...Please watch this very carefully it can burn very quickly...Good Luck and A Happy Thanks-Giving To All of You and Your Family...

Yam And Marshmallow Recipe

Works better if the yams are mashed first (bake first (the best) and peel or used canned yam pieces).

Put mashed yams in baking dish, dot with butter and bake at 350 for 30 min or till hot and steamy. Remove and cover with with marshmallows. Return to oven for 5-10 min till marshmallows are a little melted and browned. Sprinklebrown sugar over the top and put under broiler for 5 min. to get crunchy brown sugar top and melty marshmallow layer over buttery yam filling.

Enjoy!

This is my favorite recipe
3-4 large yams, cooked with jackets, when cool peel and slice.
to 1/2 stick butter add 1/2 c or more brown sugar and melt together, until syrupy. Pour over yams turning them over until they are kinda covered. Dot with butter and cover with marshmellows. Bake 20-30 mins or until marshmellows are toasty brown and kinda melted.
note: you may want to double the sauce to make sure that you have enough for the yams. If you have too much, you can always serve it in a dish for passing and pouring on . I also have included coarsely chopped pecans and boy does that make it special...YUM!!

I don't do precise recipes, but I bake my sweet potatoes, let cool, peel and cut up in bowl, add butter, brown sugar and sometimes pecans. Mix well and put in casserole dish.Bake about 20 minutes at 350, take out and cover with mini marshmallows, put back in oven and let brown, watching it carefully, it browns really fast. And yes, I do add a little cinnamon and nutmeg, or not, depending on taste.

You have all the basic information.

you can make mashed yams or serve as steaks.

you can bake the yams to fork tender for either method.

steaks you slice them then sautee in an electric skillet in butter and brown sugar liberally.

mash potato version just mix it all together and mix with a mixer.
