There is something in German recipes called "Live Cake Spice". Can anyone tell me what this is and what the English/American substitute for this might be. I can translate most of the recipe by don't have a clue about this ingredient.

Thank you,

Are they good for anything? I was tempted to give it a go when the local Wal mart super store had some while selling the regular orange ones but I was a bit too scared to try it. There were a few that were around the same size as the ones that had the baking pumpkin stickers on them.

Thanks for the help.

My husband can't eat gluten or dairy, I can't eat foods with tyramine (gives me migraines, foods like beans, grapes), and my son can't have salicylates (a lot of fruits, spices, tomatoes). We are the opposite of Jack Sprat and his wife...almost everything is eliminated except meats and fish and rice.

Is there a program or website that will help me merge our no-no lists and create good healthy tasty meals?
