I'm a college student and I don't have much to work with, kitchen-wise. I was wondering: if I were to microwave an egg for breakfast, would it be safe for consumption?

To Scramble: Mix egg with 1tb milk,1tbp water, mix well, place in bowl-cover with plastic wrap and nuke about 1 to 2 min depends

Yes, eggs can be prepared in the microwave and yes, they will be fit for consumption. I think that you can scramble eggs in the microwave.
You must have a microwave safe bowl. You break open the egg, scramble it in the dish put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds on medium high, take it out and stir it. Put it in the microwave again for a little while. The reason you put it in and take it back out is because as the eggs cook, they will rise up in the bowl, cooking on the outside. You want to make certain that all of the egg is cooked, which is why you stir the egg during the cooking process. You also want to make certain that you are not over cooking the egg which is why short burst of cooking time is recommended until the egg is done to your satisfaction.

It is absolutely safe to consume how do you think many fast food restuarants cook their eggs?

You CANNOT nor should you ever try to cook an egg in the shell in the microwave. IT WILL EXPLODE!!!!!

You definitely can cook eggs in a microwave but be care full, they get so hot, so fast that they could explode and splatter all over the inside of the Microwave, living you with a big old mess!
Crack your eggs in a microwavable bowl, add a little Butter, Salt and Pepper, cover the whole thing with plastic wrap, poke a tiny whole through the top to allow stem to escape and cook it for only a few seconds at a time until you get the hang of it. Eggs cook so fast on there that you want to take it easy at first, unless you have a manual which tell you exactly how long to cook it for.
Good luck and enjoy!

Yes I scramble and poach all the time. Just beat the eggs in a bowl and nuke for a minute at a time and stir than another minute until cooked. Or you can take a coffee mug, put a little salt and oil in the bottom, just a bit, then crack the egg in it. One per mug about 45 seconds for one. It comes out like a poached egg. You can do soft boiled too.
My mom also bought microwave egg cookers big plastic eggs that do the same thing as the mug idea.

Yes, and scrambled is easy.

One minute on high after scrambling and you can add a little milk or water, for each egg...depending on your egg....but after 30 seconds check the bowl and scrape around the edge, and push it towards the uncooked part in the middle.

They are easy and great way to get protein in the AM. Got me through undergrad and graduate school!

Yes!! Scramble and cook in microwave safe dish.
Cover with wax paper to prevent splater. If your microwave does not have rotating carrosel you will need to zap, turn & stir and zap again until done. Time will vary depending on how powerful your microwave is.

Don't try whole egg as it will explode and make big mess.

Yes you can prepare eggs in several different ways. You can poach, scramble or soft to hard boiled egg. In instance of the boiled egg; make sure that you put it an upright position and poke a hole in the top. If you don't it will explode. Good luck..

Yes, but only scrambled. Do not overcook, as is the case with most people. Overcooking makes food rubbery. And use the standing time recommended for all foods in the microwave. Done correctly they are quite good and there is not the added fat used in frying.

Peace.

You can microwave eggs as long as they're not in the shell. Check on them frequently to make sure that they're cooked properly and don't burn. It's easiest to scramble them first before cooking.
