I have also wondered the same thing! My local specialty grocery store had a ton of white pumpkins this year. From what I have been able find online, there doesn't seem to be any difference between the standard orange and the white, red, or even blue pumpkin (yes, they even come in blue), other then the skin coloring. There are a ton of recipes out there for white pumpkin, but most involve using the skin as part of the presentation, and in almost all of the recipes it says that it's acceptable to substitute white for orange. I think the color difference is just that, a color difference, nothing more. :)

I have heard that the white ones were good for baking and cooking. But the only sure way to tell is to cook it and see if it has a stringy texture. If it does, it definitely won't make a good pie.
Usually, the small sugar pumpkins, also known as pie pumpkins or baking pumpkins are used for pies.
The big pumpkins used for jack-o-lanterns will definitely be too stringy to bake with, but the seeds will always be good.
Rinse the seeds well, the dry them in a single layer in a low oven. Once they are crispy, you can toss them with just a hint of oil and salt (or other seasonings). Pumpkin seeds are great for fiber and good for anyone watching a low-carb or heart-healthy diet.

If you're going to make something with it, baking pumpking is really better. White pumpking isn't so great, it doesn't have as good of a flavor and I'm pretty sure it has stringier meat. Baking pumpkins specifically are bred for being less fibrous and better tasting. I tried once, I've gotten better results with pack pumpking in a can...its alright, but not the best.

They are pretty much the same as an orange one but have a thicker shell. The inside is the same (just less of it). Some say they are better for cooking since there is more of it to cook cuz of the thicker walls. They are used a lot is pumpkin chuckin contest (the hurling of pumpkins for distance) cuz of the thicker walls they can take more force,

diverse the very old fairy thoughts were created with political double meanings. there have been prevalent matters with cultural insights. maximum stereotyped easy human beings, and the necessary villain became whoever they were adverse to on the time. more effective modern fairy thoughts dealt with matters like forced marriage and feminist rights. various had moral endings. That suggested, I grew up dedicated to fairy thoughts. I regarded at each and every fairy tale e book in our close by library. I in basic terms knew that sometime my prince would come. in basic terms after I took my daughter to Disney international even as she became little did it ensue to me that those type of thoughts not in basic terms had heroes or heroines, yet also very very scary characters. My daughter became frightened of lots of the rides there till she became sufficiently old to understand. i wanting to inform my little grandson a tale the different evening, and had a puzzling time taking under consideration one which does not have a "undesirable guy" like the wolf contained in the three Little Pigs or in Little pink using Hood.
