There has to be some other ingredient that gives it that flavor and color besides soy sauce because when i make it , it never taste like what i would get at a good restaraunt. In New york chinese carryout fried rice has a yellow color.

A friend of mine had a catered pig roast two years in a row. The caterers roasted a whole pig there but all we got were some huge trays of pork. No hams or bacon in sight. Do caterers keep those parts for themselves without mentioning it to anyone?

My sibs LOVE those individually packaged, extremely sweet, and expensive Quaker chewy granola bars. I'm looking for a recipe that will come close to what you can buy. They will not eat all those wonderful recipes for "homeade granola bars"- you know, the ones that are full of healthy stuff like nuts and raisins and oatbran. Anybody have a recipe that resembles a packaged sweet chewy granola bar, I'd love to have it!!!

If Guinness Marmite is vegetarian (and I accept explanation), why does it not show on the jar that it is veggie (as does ordinary martmite?).

Sticky rice seems too bland. I plan on making a salad (carrot cucumber and sprouts) and including wasabi sauce on fish and a mustard- inspired dressing on salad

The basic flavour is similar, except chinese mustard is so much more potent. Also its a different kind of "hot" that affects the palette, why does it clear the sinuses so thoroughly?

For all you Bloody Mary drinkers, what are your secrets and faves? I love Red Eye mix and a splash of green olive juice. A friend said put a spoonful of salsa in this morning. Do you use cheap or expensive vodka? I use Absolut Peppar. And salt on the rim.

So...how do you like Bloody Marys?
