I guess I'm confused but what are the differences between being a vegetarian or a vegan? I only eat fish and small amounts of poultry. Someone said I was a vegetarian-is that true?

I have been trying to gain a little weight in a healthy way. I have my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have been drinking vitamin water, 2 bottles a day for 5 days a week. I was just concern if too much Vitamin water can cause any problems to my body.

How many of you are committed to organic foods and drinks? Do you go all the way with it or pick and choose? Is your food budget out of hand? Do you have to sacrifice to work organic food into the budget?

When you switched to organic did you change a few foods at a time or change all your choices at the same time?

How much better do you feel and how dramatic is the difference in taste and nutrition??

If people asked you to recommend ONE food or drink that they should choose organic what would you tell them? Why?

Perhaps a related question...what are WHOLE FOODS?

While browsing Tesco's the other evening, I noticed a row of tubs of Dairylea Cheese Spread. There was a big sign saying 'Now contains CHEESE!!!'

I've been eating this stuff for 30 years - what the hell did it contain before they added cheese?

I absolutely love green tea, and before I became a vegetarian (I still eat eggs and dairy products), I drank a lot of it, about 6 cups a day. Now that I am a vegetarian, I am concerned about the absorption of iron from my meals being disrupted by the tannins in the tea since the tannins tend to bind with the non-haem irons. So my question is, how often can I drink tea and how long should I wait before and after meals to drink tea?

I have been reading lately about how foods are processed. I had no idea about meat and dairy, and how unsanitary it is. I had no idea about genetically modified food. I had no idea how dangerous chemicals, pesticides, and artificial dyes and flavors are. Now, I am grossed out, and not quite sure what to eat. I consider myself to be intelligent, and wonder how I could have hit middle age without having clue about the foods I was eating. I am asking this to see if I am the only one who didn't know. For those of you who KNOW the truth about how nasty our food supply is, do you ignore it, or what do you do about it?

One of the meals that brings back memories for me is vegetable beef soup and grilled cheese. It was one of my faves as a kid and it just gives me that "kid like" feeling whenever I eat it. What about you? Be specific, please.
