This recipe came from all recipes dot com
AMISH WHITE BREAD
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow
to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a
lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to
coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and
place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough
has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes
NOTE: Although you would not normally do this, you need to knead flour into the dough
after rising. The dough will feel like a baby's bottom when just right :) Practice makes this recipe the absolute best!! I promise.
^^This is an awesome bread recipe, and very easy~~you can cut down the sugar too, if you prefer!! I also make it into raisin bread....or feta cheese and garlic bread...it's very versatile! Good Luck

Can't help ya on the donut thing, but this is a godo basic white bread recipe... you can bump up the whole grain content by using ½ cup whole wheat flour instead of some of the white flour.
Wonderful White Bread
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter
1 package (1 tablespoon) rapid-rise dry yeast
2 tablespoons sugar or honey
3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 egg whites, divided and slightly beaten
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
In a small saucepan, heat the milk with butter over low heat just until the butter melts. Remove from heat and add to the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with a dough hook. Proof the yeast by adding it to the warm milk and butter. Add the sugar and stir gently to dissolve. Let stand 3 minutes until foam appears. This indicates the yeast is active.
Turn mixer on low and gradually add the flour. When the dough starts to come together, increase the speed to medium and add the salt and 1 egg white. Stop the machine periodically to scrape the dough off the hook. Mix until the dough is no longer sticky, about 10 minutes.
Turn the dough onto the work surface and knead for a minute or so by hand. Knead by folding the dough over itself and pushing out with the heel of your hands, not down. Rotate the dough and repeat. The dough is properly kneaded when you can pull it and it stretches without breaking. Form the dough into a round and place in an oiled bowl, turn to coat the entire ball with oil. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let rise over a gas pilot light on the stovetop or in another warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Test the dough by pressing 2 fingers into it. If indents remain, the dough is adequately risen.
Once the dough is doubled and domed, turn it out onto the counter. The act of turning out the dough naturally deflates the gas, so there is no need to aggressively punch it down. Handle the dough gently, overworking the gluten at this point will produce a dense loaf that is difficult to shape. *To form a loaf, pat the dough into a rectangle, fold the long sides to the middle then fold under the ends. Pinch the seams closed and place in a greased 9 by 5-inch loaf pan, seam side down. Make sure the dough touches all sides of the pan.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise a second time for 20 minutes or until the top of the dough is nearly level with the top of the loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, place a large pan on the bottom rack of the oven. Bring 3 cups water to a boil on the stove. Pour the hot water into the preheated pan to create a steam bath for the bread. This will make a crisp crust.
Slash dough down the middle of the loaf with a sharp knife to allow the steam to escape during baking. Brush the top with remaining beaten egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake the bread for 30 to 40 minutes until crust is golden and internal temperature reads 195ºF when checked with an instant read thermometer. The bottom of the loaf should sound hollow when tapped. Immediately remove the bread from the pan and cool completely on a rack.
* Variation: To make Cinnamon-Raisin Swirl Bread: after the first rise, press the dough out to a rectangle, sprinkle surface with cinnamon and raisins to cover. Roll up like a jellyroll, pinch the seams closed and continue as directed in the recipe.

Chocolate Cake Doughnuts:
1 hour 1 hour prep
30 doughnuts
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs (room temperature)
4 tablespoons butter
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg white
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1. All ingredients should be at room temperature (about 70 degrees F).
2. Beat the sugar and eggs together until creamy and lemon colored.
3. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a small saucepan over low heat; beat into the sugar/egg mixture.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and vanilla; stir into the sugar/egg mixture.
5. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl; stir into the liquid mixture, mix until well combined.
6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator to make it easier to handle.
7. On a lightly-floured board, roll out half of the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness.
8. Cut into doughnuts; allow the cut doughnuts to dry for 10 minutes.
9. In a large heavy skillet, heat 2-inches of oil to 370 degrees F (185 degrees C).
10. The dough should be at room temperature before frying (this is important!) Transfer the doughnuts to the hot skillet, one doughnut about each 15 seconds, (dip a metal pancake turner into the hot oil each time before using it to remove or turn a doughnut) Fry each doughnut about 90 seconds per side.
11. Remove the doughnuts, and drain on paper towels.
12. Repeat with remaining dough.
13. To make the icing/glaze: Beat the powdered sugar with the egg white and vanilla together until smooth.
14. Drizzle onto the doughnuts after they have been cooled.
