One of the meals that brings back memories for me is vegetable beef soup and grilled cheese. It was one of my faves as a kid and it just gives me that "kid like" feeling whenever I eat it. What about you? Be specific, please.

Fried Chicken. When i was a kid, on Sunday's we would go to my grandmothers. Everyone did. We always had fried chicken.
The yard would be full of all of us kids playing football or tag or whatever. Then we would be called for dinner. (the best fried chicken ever!) After dinner more football till it got dark then it was time to catch lightening bugs. (What a wonderful question, it brought back some great memories) Thank you.

Not really a meal but my mother would make something called statts (I think this is a made up family name I guess?). Her mother made this and I was told my grate grandmother made these, I make these for my kids.
They are basically Indian bread. Not the stuff you buy at the carnivals, pow wows etc., which I make these too.....but these are not sweet, no sugar.

Extremely simple to make, one could make these on the "trial" even in the olden days. Egg, Milk, flour (could be made with water) this is it. It is a acquired taste. Fried in oil, or bacon grease. I have herd it referred to as other things too. But this was the first thing us kids learned to make. My brother and me would fight over how it was going to be prepared when little. He liked it different then I do.
His wife and me chuckled about this for his wife told me my brother is still real picky on how his is made, just like when we were kids.....

Lol, I came in and read your childhood meal memory and mine is about the same... but it's tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. It was one of my favorites as well and I THOUGHT I could remember how my mom used to cook the soup, she added something special to it, but... it's escaping me now. I just know it was good!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches on White Bread and a Glass of Milk remind me of my childhood. Tomato Soup is something else that reminds me of when I was a kid. I never liked Egg Salad Sandwiches but they also remind me of when my mom would pack my lunches for school.

Pork chops baked with golden mushroom soup on them. Add some sliced onion. My grandmother made this for me and no matter who else makes it with even the same recipe, it just doesn't ever taste the same. She also made the best cheese sandwiches!

I remember when I was a child and I rode my bike to the new McDonalds in town. That was the first time I bought pancakes from McDonalds. It tasted like styofoam smells. They served it on a styrofoam platter. I didn't ever want McDonalds pancakes again. After that , I was very particular about not eating on styrofoam.

Vanilla shakes from McDonald's. After my Mom took me and my siblings to the doctor, we always got to go to McDonald's if we were good when getting our inoculations. Also, McD's has those really thick straws. That always reminds me of being a kid.
