I don't mean the chardonnays and cabernets which stores like Wing Yip promote. I know the long tradition of great, classic Chinese poetry which is heavily involved with wine (respect to Li Po!). But what sort of wine was he drinking? And what do Chinese people drink in the provinces?

I know that Monosodium glutamate is out of fashion for trendy cooks, but does it still have a role in Chinese cooking? For instance, I recently saw a recipe on the BBC food website for char siu which included it. I find my Chinese recipes VERY salty anyway, so is it always OK to omit it?

A few years ago I used to be able to buy strawberry daquaris from sainsburys, they came in a pouch pack, bit like capri sun, and you used to put them in the freezer and they went like a slush, yumyum! I went to get some at xmas and I couldnt find them. Does anyone know if they have stopped doing them, or if I can get something similar somewhere else??? Thanx :-) xx

I am getting married in 6 months and since it's a small wedding, I plan to make my own "cupcake tier" for our "wedding cake". I was just wondering if a buttercream icing is a good stiffer icing that will hold up to the humidity of the summer, or is there a different kind of icing recipe that would be better?? Thanks in advance.

It's almost lunch time here in Europe, I'm hungry, and I don't know what to eat. I have 2 pounds of ground beef, tomato sauce, and macaroni. I would like to make Mac and Cheese, but I don't have cheese. What should I cook? I prefer something like Mac and cheese, lasagna, and stuff like that. Does anyone have an idea??? Thanks

Companies like Coca Cola and Pepsi insist that they add caffeine as a flavouring in their drinks (as it says on the can).

I got a stange note form someone today.

Any clue where they are coming from ? After all, we all know, or can easily find, that the definition of a vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slughter by-products.

I've got no problem with people eating chicken or fish, however why do they continue to ignore the English language ?

I'm white and from the UK. Would you ever believe it was right if i called myself a black Ethiopian ? No, because in order to communicate we should use the gloabally accepted definitions of words.

Heres the note i got:
"I was right when I said some vegans eat chicken and fish....this statement I said may not be in YOUR experience, but I have alot of vegan friends. While not all of them eat chicken or fish...some of them do, and perhaps u do not...so check ur self b.f u go around telling people they are giving you misleading facts why don't ya"

1. Do you or have you ever made a wish on a chicken wish bone?
2. What was your wish?
3. Did it come true?
PS. I really had no idea where to post this question as it seems to be outside all categories including polls and surveys
