I got a stange note form someone today.
Any clue where they are coming from ? After all, we all know, or can easily find, that the definition of a vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slughter by-products.
I've got no problem with people eating chicken or fish, however why do they continue to ignore the English language ?
I'm white and from the UK. Would you ever believe it was right if i called myself a black Ethiopian ? No, because in order to communicate we should use the gloabally accepted definitions of words.
Heres the note i got:
"I was right when I said some vegans eat chicken and fish....this statement I said may not be in YOUR experience, but I have alot of vegan friends. While not all of them eat chicken or fish...some of them do, and perhaps u do not...so check ur self b.f u go around telling people they are giving you misleading facts why don't ya"

Vegetarians do not eat any kind of animal flesh! Vegans will not touch ant kind of animal products i.e. wool, honey, milk, eggs etc ! These people are clueless wannabees not real vegans, they aren't even vegetarians so to call themselves vegans is insulting to us all and really stupid !!

Maybe she just doesn't want you to know more about something than she does, or cant she look up the definition on the Internet herself!!! The word itself is self explanatory, vegetarian, one who eats vegetables. The problem arises when people who don't eat red meat, say "I eat vegetarian mainly, but also "fish" or "chicken" If she is a friend, I would be worried if her ability to believe what others have told her is utter bull>>>> then what else does she believe? Ignore her or you will end up doing something crazy, because she would send me in a spin!!!

She obviously [1] does not know what the word 'vegetarian' means, and [2] has no clue that 'vegan' and 'vegetarian' are also two very different diets.
I've no answer for you, dear. Just a suggestion to stay away from anyone with a lower IQ than her shoe size.

vegan do not eat meat or anything that comes from an animal, such as eggs, cheese, milk, etc. If they are eating fish or chicken then they are not vegans, or for that matter vegetarians.

silly. in my understanding veggies eat veggies, etc. no meat of any kind. some veggies eat eggs, some do not. some use dairy, some do not.
vegans, like veggies eat no meat of any kind and do not eat eggs or dairy.
whomever your note is from is truely confused or perhaps their friends professing vegan while eating chicken and fish. what kind of vegatable is a chicken?

She is either very confused and totally believes what she has said or she is trying to wind you up. When people make comments like that it is no use whatsoever lowering yourself to their standard by trying to impress on them that they are indeed wrong. Just ignore the person because you will never be able to change their way of thinking.

Some people are in-between or uninformed. I'm not strict anything, but strive to eat healthier and hopefully this helps the environment and reduces factory farming. I do believe in organics wholeheartedly.
