I'm the first person in my circle of friends to be getting married. I had really hoped for a sort of girls night out/lingerie shower...something special before my wedding. My maid of honor hasn't mentioned any kind of shower/party. Would it be rude to ask?

I love this girl alot, however we broke off... It has been 8 months, and i still can't forget her. We were supposed to get married and we even apply for a house. But then, she initiated the break off 8 months back.
I really can't forget her, it's really painful inside.... though i kept putting on a brave front, but deep inside i'm still crying.........

I was wondering if any of you went to Vegas to get married? If so how did you like it? Any regrets, it sounds so simple and fun. I was thinking of scratching the whole wedding in Kansas idea and doing it in Vegas because of my busy schedule. My family seems to be ok with it as long as when we come home we have some sort of reception with family and friends.

I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years (this valentines day) and we always talk about getting married after or around the time we graduate, which is around feb 14 2009. He hasnt exactly proposed yet but we still talk about it. I even have a promise ring that looks like an engagment ring. Anyways, is it way to soon to plan ahead?

I know traditionally you send thank you's to your guests, but is it appropriate to send thank- you's to the people who actually did the work, such as your caterer, florist, photographer, DJ, etc. If so, what is a proper message??

I'm going to be with my girlfriends family this weekend and I need to ask permission to marry her. First of all, I've always heard I ask the dad's permission...but do I ask both? Also, should it be done with or without her present? She knows I'm asking permission already. Should I do it over dinner? Should I take her dad aside at some approprate time while we're just at her place hanging out? Help please!!

I am having my wedding at a Lake House in Spring of 2008. What are some fun ways to incorporate the "lake" theme into my wedding? The ceremony & reception will be held at the lake house. The wedding outside with the lake as the backdrop & the reception in a tent right alongside the lake.

Wedding Gifts

In New Jersey most every bride registers and we have a bridal shower that we give gifts at. At weddings there are no registry gifts given its all in monetary form, cash or check in an envelope. Usually the amount given is enough to cover the cost of your plate plus any additional plates that are in your party. This is by guessing though, it isnt told to anyone how much your plate costs, alot of times people wait to see the spread and then fill out their checks so they can give the appropriate amount. The goal is to help the bride and groom recoup what they spent on the wedding.

How is it done in your area?

Like joking all the time about gettin married, or saying 'when we're 30' etc...

Or are there no telltale signs and the above is just him being affectionate?

I'm the maid-of-honor for my best friend's wedding. I'd really like to make this a really special last night out for her. So far we've planned to rent some sort of transportation (limo, van, whatever...) and get out of town (we live in a pretty small one). I really want to make it a night to remember for all... Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

I am getting married in June and its not a big wedding. Its very intimate and just family and very close freinds are going. No more than 35ppl including kids. I wanted to have diner at Sammy's Box in City Island instead of a reception the only thing is that due to the budget, everyone will be paying for their own plate. How would i word that in the invitation? and does anyone have any other suggestions as far as diner goes?

Is it okay to have a wedding on a Sunday night? Just need opinions... We have family coming into town for the event, so Saturday would be better for them, but Sunday night would be better for our friends that are IN town....
