Play a movie? Like what? "The Terminator"? "Showgirls"? Unless you are playing a slide-show of family pictures, that is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of for a wedding, no matter how informal. Look at it this way...just because the place has a stripper pole, doesn't mean that granny should be invited to swing on it, ya know?

The venue my husband and I rented for our wedding only had a screen as well. We wanted to play a slideshow so we ordered the equipment from a company that deals with audio/visual equipment and rents it out to companies and other people who need it for presentations, projects, etc. We found them on the web and they delivered the stuff to us the day before and we just had to hook it up and play the cd with the slide show on it. Look on the web or maybe at local electronic stores or Staples or a store like that to see if they rent out equipment like that for a day or so. Good luck and congrats.

Why not transfer photos of the two of you, together, not together, on vacation, with friends and family, and your childhood memories into a slide show, you can play that on the screen during your reception...most of your guests will remember those moments

Just a thought
Congrats!

i wouldn't play a movie at the reception unless it was part of it like a slide show kind of thing...otherwise that will cheapen the whole event

You want to play a movie at your wedding? What kind of movie? I think it would be a distraction....everyone is there to celebrate your new marriage, not watch a movie. I wouldn't do it.

Well that's certainly a novel and tacky idea.
