I am having my wedding at a Lake House in Spring of 2008. What are some fun ways to incorporate the "lake" theme into my wedding? The ceremony & reception will be held at the lake house. The wedding outside with the lake as the backdrop & the reception in a tent right alongside the lake.

You could use a small row boat, an oar, an anchor, or any other lake-related imagery as your "logo" for invites, etc. You could also have signature drinks at the reception with "lake themed" names. Your colors could mirror the lake or it's surrounding environment as well, incorporating watery blues, spruce greens, or earthy browns into your palette. I think incorporating water into your centerpieces would also be lovely. Bowls with floating candles and flowers could be an amazing water to bring the outdoor lake "inside."

Good luck and congratulations!!!

each table could be named after a famous lake
a framed photo of lake imagery on each table w/ the table name printed on it
use river rocks in your floating candle centerpieces. clear glass bowls w/ river rocks in the bottom and filled w/ water. floating candles on top.
use ferns or a nature item as your emblem. use a stamp of your emblem on place cards and invites.
use ferns to adorn your simple cake.
maybe arrange to have romantic boat rides for couples and kiddies during the reception or cocktail hour.
lake themes can get "campy" if you aren't careful. pick a few things and repeat them rather than 10 things that have to do with the lake
(I used ferns/river rocks/lake names above)
Hope this helps!

Guests on boats? My parents own a lake house and they suggested this for mine. I thought, "good idea, but difficult to pull off. And uncomfortable." The guests would all have to get out to a boat, or find a way to ride over on one. So, you would have to have a number of boats to pull it off. Maybe if you have a small, small wedding, this would work.

smelly dead fish scattered around the reception?

Just kidding....how about getting some drift wood to use in the centerpieces?

Maybe you could go nautical..
You could get some fishing nets and hang them, fix them up with some shells and starfish.
Here's a place to buy seashells and such in bulk:

Here's some invitation sites:

Congrats and good luck!

You could use pebbles in your centerpieces somehow, and maybe have your bridesmaids wear blue. Sounds beautiful!
