When do i send out engagement announcements, and to whom? I would like to let people know, even if they may not be invited to the wedding. I also don't want it to look like i'm looking for gifts or something of the like.

Can it be just a happy announcement to let people know how happy we are?

I have seen cybidium (sp?) orchids and green hydrangea but they are pretty pricey unless I buy wholesale online. i would prefer to work with a florist but could buy online if need be. If someone could offer some alternatives, I would be pretty excited. Thanks!

my in-laws are celebarating their 50th wedding anniversary this May. I would like to make a collague for them and in the middle put a family tree. so i went in search of one on-line that i could fill in and print out. I found charts and fans, etc. but no trees. you know the ones that you put their names in the trunk then add the kids to the branches. I found some software ($200) i don't mind paying something but that is to much. then i found a site where a lady makes them on canvas ($300) i even tried scarpbook stores and only seem to find some that a child might use. Does anyone have any suggestions

My sister is currently pregnant and is due in the middle of June. My fiance and I want to get married this summer (mostly because I am going back to school full-time and I am very busy the rest of the year). My sister has been complaining about any date we chose. She complained about it being in late May (which I can understand), but she is also complaining about late August, saying that she will have to take care of the 2 month old the entire time. Aren't 2 month olds, old enough to be babysat for a day? Any suggestions on how to handle this? She is also complaining about the size of the wedding (very small, 15-20 people) and the distance it is from where she lives (only 1 1/2 hours). She is starting to make me not even care if she comes because I find this very selfish. (sorry, most of this is just venting, i'm mostly just curious about how people have handled babies at weddings)

My fiance and I are American, and I know the language barrier might be a problem, but it's just he and I going, and we want something very private (this is our 2nd marriage). I've heard Florence is the place to go. We thought about Rome, but isn't that overdone and not so clean? I heard the same of Venice, although I thought that would be romantic. Any suggestions on the most romantic city? Also, we thought about staying in a castle or a villa with sea views.

Thanks!

I'm getting married in September and my parents are paying for it. It's a small wedding (50-60 guests) and my mum has suddenly gone loopy about who she gets to invite. About a month ago we sat down and discussed who she wanted invited. I did as she wanted and suddenly it has all changed. She went mad as hell.

Is this common? I'd heard about bridezilla - but mother-zilla?

My Fiance & I come from large families with lots of little kids. We decided that in order to keep the day special for his son/my future step-son, who is 5, we have limited the reception to no children, except for 1st cousins age 13 & above. Is this acceptable/fair? (Also, children cost $75 per head)

My parents have agreed to pay the $5000 rental fee for the place for our wedding & reception (a restored lake house) & the $140 per person catering/bar fee for 125 guests.
My Fiance comes from a split family, so we have agreed that each family (my parents, his father/step-mother, his mother/step-father & he/i) can invite 32 people. If anyone wants to go over that number that family must pay the $140 per person fee in order for those guests to attend. For example, my Fiance's mother wants to invite 40 people, she/her husband will have to pay for the 8 extra people to come. Do you think this is fair? We know we could have the wedding somewhere cheaper & have more people, but thats not what is important to us. To us, the importance lies in having the wedding somewhere personal to us with those closest to us. Also, his parents have not yet volunteered to contibute anything to the wedding.

I'm a female artist/ tattooist, so I'm covered in tattoos both arms covered, almost from head to toe and I usually have colored hair too...and my sister {WHO IS PREGNENT, AND WILL BE 8 MONTHS IN APRIL at her wedding} just asked me to be her Maid of Honor or Matron of Honor at her wedding in April. And keep in mind this is her second wedding in 2 years and her soon to be husband was her ex-husbands “good/best friend“, and she got pregnant…before she was divorced. She asked me to cover-up my tattoos, because of pictures?? For a certain image? and here is another thing I'M VERY ALLERGIC TO MAKE, ALL MAKE-UP since the born of my daughter...SHOULD I FEEL HONORED TO BE IN HER WEDDING, AND WEAR A COLLARED DRESS AND LONG SLEEVES IN THE SPRING TIME IN APRIL?

Hello, I am getting married this year and was wondering who makes the decisions about various wedding aspects. I know that as a bride I need to be involved, however my mum will hear or see things that she thinks would be great and pushes for them. How much do I compromose on? For example, she doesn't want a mud cake as she doesn't like them but the cakes she likes, my fiance and I don't like. I want her to feel involved and don't want to be selfish - I was wondering how much people involve their families in decisions as if my whole family has to like something the wedding will never be planned....
