We are born again Christians. We just got baptized, quit smoking, drinking, etc. Now we want to get married for religious reasons and because we love each other. Should we have a very low profile wedding without gifts. Would appreciate any ideas.

My fiance and I are getting married May 26, 2007. We'll be married in a gorgeous white gazebo outside. We'd really like to light a unity candle in our ceremony but I'm afraid that being outside the candles will blow out. Any suggestions? I have found battery operated LED lights but I'm not sure we could turn them on without being obvious. Or would that matter? I have also thought of oil candles. Will those get blown out by wind or does the oil make it harder for that to happen? I don't have a massive budget so I'd like to make sure of what I want to buy now so that I don't spend too much money. Thanks for all your help!

I have been asked and accepted the proposal. Now he wants me to set a date. He was thinking about around my birthday, but I don't want to complicate things when my birthday is not to far away. My birthday is on Nov. 11. He wants a fall wedding. I want a spring. But he also said that he wanted me to pick the date since he started the relationship. We have been together for awhile. Now I have so much to do with the planning and everything, but no date to do anything on. HELP ME!!!

I was just wondering what the etiquette is. I don't mind because it's already taken care of. This is my first time as a bridesmaid and I thought the brides fam pays for everything. I'm also paying for my travel arrangements. I almost felt like I paid to be in the wedding.

what is the best most polite way of letting people know you registered at say Walmart or whatnot for presents? I am getting married on Halloween and would really like some input on this. It is my second wedding and we are trying to do this as cheap as possible and without messing it up. I do not want to end up looking rude to my family or friends. We really need new kitchen stuff lol. Most of mine is old and falling apart. We aren't getting married just because of that though before I get some nasty comments. We have been together for 5 years and finally decided to take the plunge. But any help with letting ppl know about being registered somewhere without being rude would be nice. Thanks in advance.

My question is this. The brides parents will not pay for anyone on my brothers side of the family to eat or to drink. They will also not pay for the DJ, and only half of the wedding dress. They also will not allow anyone from my brothers side of the family to stand up in the wedding. I actually married his fiance's brother 2 years ago (If that makes sense... My husband's, sister is going to be marrying my little brother... They did it on Roseane, so spare the thats gross, because its not, were not even related that way)
My parents gave us a big wedding, and the only people that stood up with me were all of our brothers and sisters, None of my friends or my husbands. Does anyone agree with any of this? Should I say something to my brother? and how should I go about it? Should I even go to the wedding if my brother has to pay for it? Were not even on speaking terms with their parents. Its a HUGE mess, and I would rather my brother and my husbands sister elope. I just feel so bad.

an old fashioned type of shower that was given to brides back in the "day". You give a pound of some sort of food instead of a gift. i just need to have ideas to plan one.

Granted all diamonds are nice. However, in your opinion in terms of carats, how big does a diamond have to be for you to say "wow, nice ring" vs. "too gaudy" or "eegh.. could be bigger"?

I am a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding, and she has told me that I must pay for my bf's seat/meal for the reception, otherwise he can come when the dinner is over. She has spent, according to her $100,000, is on a budget and is only allowing "married couples" to attend "free of charge".

I am hurt and almost "turned off" with the whole thing since I am family, have always welcomed her and her "friends" (no questions asked), and have never made issues over money. I also have contributed a good amount of my time and money as a bridesmaid. I understand that it is her day, but this is just too ridiculous (and cheapskate) for me.

YA KNOW, PENIS STUFF EVERYWHERE ETC... IS THE BRIDAL SHOWER SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT TOO? OR IS SUPPOSED TO BE MORE TASTEFUL SINCE MOMS ARE THERE??

At my daughters wedding she has included in the reception a part where she is playing songs for her dad and his new wife (to dance) and the grooms parents also to dance. She has asked me "her mom" for my husbands and I's song. I am not really excited about going to the reception now. I feel its her day and should leave us all out of that kind of stuff. And besides we all do not get a long.
Am I wrong?

Last year I ended a relationship of 4yrs. We had a baby together and I have since moved on to another relationship that has me currently engaged . I have not ended speaking with my ex while in this new relationship and I'm starting to feel like I have feelings I can't explain for him, even though this new relationship is healther and parental approved. Let me not forget to mention that my pass relationship ended due to my ex's infadelity and temper. He says he's still in love with me but I haven't brought myself to return the expression. I love my new thing but I think im well over knee deep in this engagement to turn back and subject myself to the same old stuff I experienced with my ex. We have a child together and I would love nothing more then for my child to have an ideal situtation especially if I can provide that for my baby. I'm extrememly stress out, help.
