Congrats!
Well you don't need to get a groom's gift, the wedding is supposed to be your gift to each other. However, if you want to get him something, I say go for it. Some groom's gifts my friends' enjoyed were:
- racy lingerie (it took his mind off worrying about the wedding)
- year long membership to a golf club
- gift certificates for a massage on the honeymoon.
- a positive pregnancy test (this one probably wouldn't go over as well with most fiances)
A lot of brides write a love note on to their fiances. I like that idea because everyone will see what you get him but you. If you do give him something before the wedding, make it something sentimental. I love the idea of the note with a promise in it to do something or get something after the wedding. That way it can remain personal.
Good Luck!

Everyone has given great ideas. I would suggest you think about what your groom likes to do, is there something you share? Did you go hiking somewhere together, can you get some kind of momento? Or is there something your guy has been wanting but hasn't bought for himself? I think the gift should be totally personal. Don't worry about cliche gifts. You know your guy better than anyone - what would he like?

Get him something that will take him back to the day you first met, your first date, the day he propsed...ect. Somethin truly personal. It doesn't have to be expensive or even store bought for that matter. My husband and I started while on a college study tour in Russia. While in Russia we kept hearing the song "Wind of Change" on the radio. It became our song and so for my gift I bought him the cd and then we used that song as our final dance at the reception. Recreate a great memory.

for my husband i got a journal and wrote love letters over months of knowing him, becoming engaged, and then wrote the last on our wedding day... he's in the air force and can take it with him when he's deployed. it's also a way for him to know that i love him no matter what- even if i'm mad at him or something... he really liked it... hope that helps.. i don't like the standard gift ideas either...

when my husband and i got married i bought him a diamond cut tool box that fits on his truck he still uses it and it has been on every truck that he has bought and is still in great shape so you could get him something that he is into and will like for example if he is into 4 wheelers get him something for the bike etc. if he is into electronics you could get him a new digital camera or a video camera that way you both could use it think of something that he enjoys by the way congratulations on your big day

I would get him a nice watch to wear. Maybe on the back of the watch have the date of your wedding engraved on it.
Good Luck and Congratulations on your marriage.

pen sets, nice keyrings, nice coin saving banks, trays that you could put on a dresser to put loose change and such in when men empty their pockets.
