I'm a 30 year old single mother of a two and four year old. I want to relocate to Atlanta frm TN, to better my situation for myself and my children. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can move out of state without the father (never married) being able to legally stop me. He's done things for them financially, shoes, clothes & daycare every other week, but he doesn't pay child support, he's a convicted felon, and he's a very nasty person. I haven't taken child support out on him bcz I know that if I do, he'll pay child support and nothing more. (I also have 2 older children whose father died when they were only 2 months and 1 1/2 years old) He's never had a job and even if he did it wouldn't pay much bcz he doesn't even have a diploma or GED!! (I know, but it took me a long time to see the light) So, I'm wanting to move, but I dont know if I can being that he signed the birth certificates and I thought that the signature gave him certain rights. Can anyone help?

My husband is graduating in May with a 2nd master's degree. He works full-time & we have 2 very young kids at home (& he's a very involved father). He's taking night classes and has been working on this 2nd degree for 3 years. His brother told him because it's his 2nd, he shouldn't expect people to show up for his graduation (although not him or anyone from my husband's family attended his 1st master's graduation). His sister doesn't think she'll be there because he didn't come to her kids' birthdays last year. His mother is saying fine if you walk, fine if you don't. Am I wrong in expecting his family to be there for him? Is this a normal reaction from a family who claims to be close-knit? My husband is great guy & the best dad in the world & his family's reaction hurt him. I would like to get the perspective of someone neutral because I am starting to think that maybe I don't have grounds to be disappointed. BTW, his parents live 2.5 hours from us & his siblings 4.5 hours.

My mom is not good with money. I have helped her in the past but she continues to have financial problems. She is raising my neice because my sister left with her boyfriend and is a drug addict so I feel like I should help my mom since she is raising my neice. I am recently married to a wealthy man, I am in graduate school and have no children or money of my own. I have high credit card limits with no credit card balances...should I go into debt to help my mom?

My father owns a business that I have worked at for almost five years. I run the day to day operations and have been "groomed" to take over the business some day. Recently my husband came to work for the company. We thought it would be a good situation because we plan on having children soon and this would give us flexibility with our work schedules. Well my father is all over him, watching his every move, being very hard on him and being condescending and rude. We are afraid we've made a bad decision but if he backs out and quits now it will prove my fathers point and give him the upper hand again. The two of them are very different, I believe my father does not respect him. My dad is a perfectionist and my husband is much more laid back. I don't know what to do, I feel like my family is falling apart and now I am stuck in the middle. If my husband quits he will be unemployed and my father will not respects even more. Any advice would really help .

I'm only 17 and don't really know...but my best friend is having a really hard time at home and her father threatens to beat her with a belt to get her to listen ='(. She is absolutely terrified. She starts to cry and shakes when he says things to her and tried to run away once when he did it...but he said "Who are you gonna tell? Nobody can do anything about it...it's my form of punishment. And, i can run a whole heck of a lot faster than you"......All she did was use the telephone when she wasn't supposed to. It has been ongoing. I need help =( Is it abuse?

My wife was married before to a man that was very abusive towards her (I saw the police report) it was so bad that she was automatically granted a three year restraining order against him. She was fed up because her ex husband was having an affair with the brides maid which they are currently together and expecting to have a child soon. However, she having to pay child support and doesn't seem to have a desire to get custody of her son. I notice till this day she is very submissive to him always asking for permission for visitation. She even let it go at the mediation. In addition her ex has abused another woman and she gave my wife documenation of her abusive experience to submit in court but my wife didn't do it. It pisses me off and I like to know why doesn't she stand up to him and bring her son into our home where there is no abuse?

He is almost 50. Just moved out of gf's house to stay with friends. Has been separated from family for 10 years. Spent a lot of it off and on in jail serving time for a prior narcotics conviction. Was addicted to crack cocaine when we kicked him out and uses again off and on when not in jail. He lives with friends when not staying with his painkiller addicted trailerpark wife. He has been arrested for assault twice with her so I wish he wouldn't live with her but I don't trust his friends not to bring crack around him. I wish I could take him in with me but it's not an option. He needs a place to live that is affordable to him and keeps him out of trouble. Any ideas?

I have only known my dad 3 1/2 Years
(Due to family issues)
For the first year i met my dad he was always spent time with me,
But when my 1/2 sister was born two years ago, my time with him gradually got shorter and shorter and now 2 years on,
He spends no time with me whats so ever,
I'm cant really say it to my dad because i feel quite guilty because before my 1/2 sister was born and after my dad would say "if you feel i am not spending enough time with you please tell me"
and now two years on and i still havnt told him.
Its slightly heart breaking for me because i go from the no.1 every saturday and wednsday(the days i see my dad) to bottom of the list. and he has no intensions of spending time with me (as such)
I am just looking for some advice on how to arise the situation with my dad and how to resolve all this mayhem.
Thank you in advance

I pay all her utilities, and provide her with additional spending money, it totals about 400.00 a month, my sister has her as a renter paying no rent in lieu of babysitting and other activities. Can we both claim her or which one can claim her legally?

I have always loved my brother to bits. We have been very close and good friends. Our childhood memories still thrills me. Being an elder sister, I have always fullfiled my duties towards my brother. But since he has got married(love marrige), I feel that he is going away from me... We don't talk in the same way as we use to, his wife always feels insecure when I am around or when he talks to me or about me. What should I do? How can I make my self understand..... I don't know. But it hurts..... a lot!
