My Fiance's son is 18 Months old. I totally love him.. but the Mom- ughhh... She makes every little thing difficult as all hell. He has 50/50 custody, but somehow she thinks she should get special treatment with holidays... instead of switching every year. She feels like she should have him every Christmas Eve for her "family party" for 2 hours irreguardless.

She also makes it a point to call anytime there is a little problem... like running a temp of 100- because he is teething. Calling to ask how to calm him down because he wants his binki & we're in the process of winging him off. She even went as far as saying well if I can't give him his binki.. come & get him. So we agreed to go & get him.. and she changed her mind.

I just feel like we are never going to get past her.. and her lack of accountablility as an adult, and as a mother!
What to do? Any suggestions?

My mom, dad and brother get in blow outs constantly about how my brother is a bad kid and crap like that. He really is a good kid, he doesn't smoke, drink, and he's never had a girlfriend or anything. He's eighteen and has his own car. they are mad because he goes out with his friends like once in a blue moon. They (parents) are so strict, i'm not allowed to wear pants to school, and i'm from a muslim family, but all my other muslim friends wear pants, so i decided to borrow some from a friend. my mom found out aboiut them and totally went histerical!!! she said i have no self respect and all that. plus she read my diary and got mad because of the guy i like, she thinks that liking guys is a sin and crap like that but its really not, because all the other muslims i know are allowed to do things when i can't even wear a pear of pants without getting yelled at. my dad says i don't show any respect for my mom but i do, i do all her chores and translate, how can i deal with all this?

I'm 24 years old and my family comes to me with everything. I'm planning to move to Europe later this year but it will never happen with all the demands my family has for me. How can I help certain members of the family become more independent and self-reliant?

it all started over 15 months ago. My mum (56) began playing an addictive online game. (world of war craft) She would play this game all day and most of the night. At 1st we all thought it was just a phase she was going thru like when she used to play The Sims...but it wasn't. My sisters and I would go and visit & mum would be on that game. She would chat to us for about 5 minutes & have to go back to move the mouse so who ever she was playing with didn't think she was gone. Even if we rang her over an hour b4 we arrived to tell her we were visiting, she would still be playing that game. When she did talk to us, she would tell us about her new "friends" & she wanted to go inter state to meet them. So she did just that! spent a week in Adelaide with her new "friends". September last year, dad(60) came home from work to discover mum was gone! We only discovered she was living with her b/friend at christmas. He is 37.....dad doesnt beleive any of it, any advice would be great....

My Dad is a sentimental type of man who has had a fascination for Japanese women - even after divorcing his 1st wife (my mother... :)

'The Asian Persuasian' as he calls it!!

There's this lady he's been WAITING FOR for about 12 years or more now.... It's is becoming a little ridiculous and sad to see him go through the 'wait'..

She lives in Japan right now..

Japanese culture tends to be not so outspoken, so at first I thought she didn't want to hurt his feelings and 'break it to him' that it's just not going to happen...

However, this lady had told my father 'her dream would be to settle with him in Australia and get married'... Nothing is happening, she won't invite him to Japan or make the effort to move to Australia.... Says she has too many family obligations..???

He just won't let her go...

Should I approach her quietly myself and say 'come on lady, stop leaving him hanging by a thread!!!??'

I'm just afraid this will go on forever!! :(

My place to speak up????

Yesterday morning my great aunt died and I need to know if how I'm feeling is acceptable.

My dad's family is close but not really close. That being said my great aunt raised my dad and helped raise me when I was very young. Because of this I have always thought of her as a grandma. When my sister and I were called yesterday to tell us she had passed away, we thought that we would be notified of things like when/if the funeral and all the doing would be held. We hadn't heard anything by late last night, so my mom called my dad today to find out what was going on. She then called me and said there wasn't going to be a funeral because she is going to be cremated but something special in the future. That was fine but then she told me that my dad's family is getting together this afternoon and pretty much we are not invited. After my mom told me that I felt really heartbroken.

How would you feel if this happened with your family?

I need help with putting up with my new mother-in-law. I am engaged to her youngest son, we have been for about 14 months now. We have been together for about three years. I live with my fiance and his mother in a small apartment. Her and I don't get along and she drives me up the walls. She takes time away from me and my fiance, she doe nothing but complain about everything, and she has even gone around to people and said that I am lazy and stuck up. I just don't know what to do anymore because it's coming between me and my fiance and our relationship. I don't know whether to move out until I can find a job and we can both save up some money of our own and get a place. But she tells him that she's going to sell everything she has and jump in a lake if we move out. She puts him on guilt trips and then never spends time with him on the holidays. I don't want to hurt his feelings because she has nowhere to go, she's a widow now., but this has got to stop. We can't have a life of our own!

my sister borrowed a friends digital camera for a trip n it was dropped and broken. when my sister got back she offered for the camera to be fixed. My sisters friend refused and said she wanted 350 bucks for it (which was what she bought it for 3 yrs ago) cause she didnt want a bung camea (also mentioned she needed a video camera mind you ) . Its only a 3mp camera so now they are worth like 150.my sister refused as the problem was minor ( the batteries werent being recognised and ext damage was really minimal) n went to the camera shop, payed $130 and had it fixed. She returned the camera in working order and gave her the reciept she show that it was done. If she had any probs she was told she had a week warranty to see to it. The camera faulted the next day, my sisters friend refused to go and get it fixed and now still wants $ 300 bux for the thing! should she pay or did she dothe right thing. this girl did say she didnt want the camera and wanted a cam corder.. sounds suss to me.

My brother discovered sex at a really early age. Lets try 7! And since then he doesn't know what he is supposed to do, and what not to do! He grabs my butt and told my friends and my ex-boyfriend [we were dating at the time my brother told him] that me and my brother had sex! He also grabs other girls butts, and other parts. He almost went to court! He doesn't know the meaning of gay, but he claims he does. My dad and me are really tight and talk about everything and so we told my brother he has to be more smart and respectful with his actions. But he continues to hit on me and my friends! How can I make him stop? I'm tired of this!

My wife and I have been married for 22 years. She had 2 daughters when we married that are now 33 and 35. Both of them are bums. The only time they contacted their mother was to ask for money or to bail them out of legal messes. We bought a house for the younger daughter to live in. She and her boyfriend are supposed to pay rent, but have only paid $300.00 in over a year. She was busted for drug sales and we paid her bail and part of her attorney fee. She has 2 children and the older daughter had 3 children. The older daughter "borrowed" money from us for many years until we finally cut her off. I don't know how many cars we have bought, electric bills and rent payments we have made and messes we have bailed them out of.Should we play hardball with the youngest as well? Her kids are 11 and 1. The 1 year old is here becuse of a planned pregnancy to avoid going to jail. My wife and I are both close to 60 and would like to retire in a few years, but this looks like it will be impossible.

It seems like every week she seems to pull the rug from under us just when we think we have one up on her. she has never had a job we bought her a home and provide her with $3,000 a month to care for the chilldren, all we want is more coustody. We have no criminal record and have done nothing wrong we live in a great home in a great town we still only have 25%. I would like to know with having joint coustody can the mother take the child out of school without our consent? when we have individual mediation does the mediatior have to inform us of the things they discussed? She requested drug tests to be taken ours came back clean but hers was a high lev of medication pain pills. Our daughter had a severe infection in the mouth I had to take her to the dentist with out her consent to find that out is that neglect on her behalf? Please help us if you have any advice please help!
