Family - December 2006

I lived with my parents until the day before my marriage. After the marriage I came to USA from India along with my husband. I miss my parents so much. It has been about 1 year now , I haven't seen them(though I see them thro' webcam). As my husband has some hip injury , our trip to India is cancelled. But I want to see my parents. Can I ask him to send me alone to India after his surgery?

My sister is 10 years older than me, and over the last couple years has turned into the laziest person I know. It is definitely showing in her weight - she is completley huge now. She doesn't have a boyfriend, and I think it will be harder now for her to find anybody since she's so huge. I wish she would do something about it - anything! But, anytime anybody says something, her feelings are hurt. She is super-sensitive. We are all worried about her b/c we beleive it's endangering her health and her emotions, as we're sure she's very lonely. She exhibits lots of signs of insecurity. I love my sister and want to see her happy. What can I do?

Just looking for different opinions on moving to another state (from Louisiana to Texas) 4 hours away, from my kids father. He sees them every other weekend now. They are ages 14(girl) and 12 (boy). They are both very anxious and excited about moving. We dont have to move but want to for better education, sports, etc . but their father is not going to be happy about this due to the inconvenience.

My husbands parents have not spoken to him for eight years because of a lie his ex-wife told them. Every year (for six years) I (current wife) have sent them Christmas cards, Mothers Day cards, Fathers Day cards and Birthday cards and have never gotten a response. Should I continue to do this? They are in their eighties.

I have a brother who is married and has a litte girl. Problem is that he also has a drug problem. The two of us recently had a falling out over this and some other issues. He will not admit that he has a problem and says that I wrong because I had a drug problem but am noow clean. I want to get help him and he refuses. I also don't want to leave my neice completly alone in that situation. Should I call the cops and tell them what is going on and rat him out or let fate take its course and hope that he finally sees his ways?

My children want to come live with me & I have been to court over this and their grandmother won't let them live with me but she will allow them to live with their father. I have done everything that was asked of me by the court & they still turned me down. What else should I do. My children are so unhappy right now. He doesn't want to tell my parents that we're going to be getting engaged in June, because he wants to wait to tell them until after my 18th b-day (which is at the end of September). I wanted to get married right after I turn 18, but he kinda talked me in to waiting for the winter of 2007, to have a winter wedding just after the first snow. I really want to be able to tell my friends and family when I get engaged, but he's worried about how my family will react, because he's turning 19 this month, and I'll still be 17 when we get engaged. I'll have three months after I graduate until I turn 18.

He tries to choke himself with his blanket, and he says that everyone hates him. He asked me to take him to see his dad, when we left he said how come my dad doesn't like me? I was so overwhelmed I made a u-turn and when I got to his house I barely stopped but it was long enough for my son to see his dad holding his other son who is a little older up in his arms. I saw my son through the rear view mirror, he saw that, put little head down, asked me to please take him home. And after his bath, that's when I found him, standing behind a door trying to choke himself wtih his blanket. When I found him of course I immediately stoped him and held him and asked him why, why would he do that. And he said his dad has a boy, that he's not his boy. And thats the last thing in the world. Theres question about the other boys father, but not mine. The other girl has forced herself and her son on the dad. And maybe thats where I have gone wrong, i think its the dads resp to build the relation not me

Last week while I was on my way to work I saw an accident, or rather, the aftermath of an accident and as I passed I thought to myself, there's no way the driver survived that! I prayed all the way to work because I could tell the driver had been a woman because her arm was sticking out of the driver window like she was waiting for help there, there were people standing there with her, so I thought, hey maybe she did and they're waiting for the ambulance. Later that afternoon, I read on the local news website that the driver of that vehicle had died at the scene. Even though I didn't know this woman I was devastated, she was only 20! She ran a red light, stupid yes, but she was only 20! I keep coming back to that, life is so short, I have a sister who just turned 21 this year. If anything ever happened to her I would DIE!
That poor family. How do you deal with these kinds of things????

I have 3 sisters and we are putting together a dvd for each of our parents for the holiday...kind of like a slide show with pics of all of us girls through the years. we are having a little trouble trying to figure out some good songs to put on each dvd to play in the background. so far, for my mom, we have:

okay my mom she gives us eveything anything we need she buy it to us but this the thing my older brother he the frist child he is a senoir and he going to graduate well my mom brought him a aprtment so he could finsh his school because last year he move with my uncle andmy uncle mis treated him and my mom used to cry and still this day she want to kick her *** for doing that to him well my brother is a person tht lie and he nice but he lovfe money well my mom has that apartment for himto grduate meanwhile us in the house do not have even food to eat sometime well my mo got a phone call from the school and they said that my brother got kicke out the school because she led a book and a he made a little fire anyways my mom said that he dont care about obody anways my mom plan her for my brother being like that my mom said that she made him like that and i said that it was not her fault because she is the frist grandchild and he got eveything he wanted and she blame her self whatshouldi do

As a girl named Annie walked outside her house. Annie had no siblings so in fact she was an only child. Her mom worked as a doctor and the father was a surgeon. The nationality of the family was that they were Jewish. On a beautiful morning Annie got dressed, ate breakfast and asked her mom “will anyone pick on me because I’m Jewish” and her mom said “no, honey don’t worry I’m sure they will treat you as if you are one of them”. She asked that because that was her first day of high school and things like racial and racism happen. When Annie got to school she made a couple of new Jewish friends and from other nationality too. Two months passed on by and a new girl came to Annie’s school. The school that Annie was in was called Laurnhill. The new girl was black and her name was Jenny. Jenny on the same day she arrived she picked a fight with Annie. What happened was that Jenny went up to Annie and asked her “where do you come from” and Annie said “Israel” and Jenny said “so, you’re Jewish” and Annie said “yes, I am and I’m proud of it”. The reason she asked Annie where she came from was because the school she was in before she got expelled from was because she had beaten up a student because of her race which was that she was Jewish too.

So, then Jenny started to call her names like you’re a fag and your whole family is a fag etc,,,, later Annie said “no I’m not that, so don’t call me that or else” then Jenny said “or else what” and then Annie said “I will go and tell the teacher and get you in trouble” and then Jenny said “I am not afraid of you and I’m not afraid of them”. After them swearing at each other Jenny threw a punch at Annie because she didn’t like Jews. Afterwards Annie ended up in the hospital and Jenny was expelled from that school too. And Jenny’s family sent Jenny to a boarding school for just black girls. And Jenny’s parents were very terrified for her life .so they sent her away. Anyway it took Annie a couple of months to recover and go back to the same school to be reunited with her friends and to show them that life is a struggle no matter who you are or where you are. Also that you need is courage and strength to come back to the same place where everything happened and learn how to live with it and to show that stuff happen but you learn from it like: when you say “I will go tell the teacher” you actually do it and not being involved in the fight in which nobody would have gotten hurt and that you can also prevent it. Annie’s family was helping her recovery and reassuring her that if something in her gut does not feel right just walk away like in this case she could have went to the teacher and got help for Jenny . This kind of helps her through the time she is at school surrounded by people she knows that she can rely on. Also so that everybody to can get rely on the teachers, principle and any adults. To make sure that they are safe when they are at school.

When I have a cigarette at home (outside of course) my folks will still say I shouldn't be smoking eventhough I'm 23 now. I still do but I get pissed off by the nagging.

Used to be really anti smoking until I was 18 - and even nagged my girlfriend to give up but then started smoking myself. Strange how things work out!

i was in a violent relationship in which i had a baby boy which is now 2 years old i kept getting back with my x which he would beat me and threaten 2 kill my son and all my family 2go with it he also was very controlling and manipulative,he is taking me 2 court so he can get contact should i let him help me can i really trust him alone with my baby????????

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read my question. I am trying to find my dad, i have not seen him in 29 years since i was 3. I know his name is Raymond F. Aust and he changed his name to Raymond M. Shelon his birthday is 6/26/1946. I know that at one time he was a pilot. And last i heard he was in florida.

My Granny is frankly getting more and more obnoxios the older she gets. She has always tried 2 embarrass people and get attention, and really do anything 2 make herself look more upper class than she is (which drove her to bankruptcy) She came to visit the other day, and well...shes a big woman...really big, and she had fallen, landed on her butt, and had a bruise. She decided we all needed 2 see it, so she dropped her pants in front of me, my dad, my mom, my sis and my fiance to show is her bruise. This was GROSS-nobody wanted to see it, a simple, I fell and hurt my butt would have been more than enough. She has NO social graces anymore, and has recently told me that she has gotten my fiance a present for christmas thats really sexy and she wants 2 embarrass him, which is just wierd coming from a grandmother, she is dying 2 throw me a lingerie shower! I'm basically sick of cringing everytime I'm near her, how do we get her 2 keep her pants on and quit doing lude things for attention?

Ok, here's the deal. My boyfriend and the family do a hat draw of names to get gifts for each another. We have to spend about $100-$150 on them. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 1/2 years, so I know him pretty well. He loves wine (but an achololic), Love cigars (but we don't want to encourage!) He has all his electronic crap already.
