I lived with my parents until the day before my marriage. After the marriage I came to USA from India along with my husband. I miss my parents so much. It has been about 1 year now , I haven't seen them(though I see them thro' webcam). As my husband has some hip injury , our trip to India is cancelled. But I want to see my parents. Can I ask him to send me alone to India after his surgery?

No, you should wait until he is fully recovered. Now that you have your own home, he is definitely more important. Your parents have other brothers and sisters or maybe grandkids to cheer them up, but he has only you.
You can still talk to him how much you miss your parents India, but you definitely can wait.
Relationships are sensitive, it is hard to rebuild once you carelessly mess it up. Do not be careless.

Communication is extremely important, and if he's your husband you should be able to tell him that you miss your family. It's completely understandable to want to be with them and see them. I only live a few hundred miles from mine and I go crazy going just a month or two without seeing them!

As for going back, I think it's important that you make sure your husband is taken care of. Going right after his surgery isn't the best, because that's when he's really going to need you. If you talk to him about your family and what you want, then the two of you should be able to come up with a plan that will work for both of you.

Who are you married with?

As a foreigner married to an American, who spent 6 years without visiting relatives in my home country, let me tell you...

If you love your husband, you should put him first. You married him, not your parents.

You were planning on a visit to your parents but surgery got in the middle. Well, then... Don't you think your husband will need you the most by his side after his surgery?

Yes, Ma'am. The surgery has to take place and as a loving wife you are, you should stay by his side. Chances are you will have another opportunity to visit your parents in the near future or maybe buying them a plane ticket to come see you and your husband would be an option too.

Yes tell your husband you would like to go and visit your family. Communication this the most important key to a good marriage.

I understand you wanting to go. But your love for your husband should out weigh everything else. Your husband is going to need you more while he is recovering. He might willing let you go, but you are going to be telling him that your wants and your parents are more important to you than him. Leave him after surgery? Sounds like you need to leave him for good if you don't love him anymore than that.

I would definitely go back but I would push my trip back to a couple weeks after his surgery. I could imagine he will need a lot of help after his surgery and I wouldn't want to leave him alone. Help him for a couple weeks and then go on your trip.

Yes if you want to go tell him. I see no problem with it as long as your husband deosn't need you there to help him. If his recovery time isn't going to be long maybe you could wait so he could go too though. The key to any good relationship is honesty so be honest and tell him how you feel.

NO, I would stay with my husband and help through his recovery!!! When he is doing better you can return to Indiana for a visit. Your husband should come first, your parents will understand.
