I have 1 biological child that lives with me. I have 2 boys that I consider my own but don't live with us. My daughter gets bummed sometimes that she doesn't have a sibling to fight with & play with. But it's too late for me to have another one & I really don't want one. If you're an only child could you tell me some of the benefits? I tell her that if she did have siblings then I wouldn't be able to give her everything I do but sometimes I guess that doesn't matter.

My grandson, 18 & senior in high school is living with us. He pays no rent and we provide food, clothing and a vehicle to drive, we pay auto insurance for him. Can we see his school records (report cards, progress reports) and contact teachers to ask about his progress, grades, etc.? He has signed an age of consent form at school and when I called a teacher to ask about his grades she said she couldn't talk to me without his permission. He will not give me permission. Is there any way to check up on him at school?

he doesnt pay child support. he works and has a girlfriend and is a drug abuser. i will be moving soon with my bf in another city. and we have talked about marriage. we have also talked about my by adopting my daughter. if everything works out, i think that would make me the happiest person. what are my chances of my bf adopting my daughter in the future? without the biological fathers consent? and what is your opinion on this? Keep in mind, the father was very abusive with me, and I have plenty of records to prove it. Plus, i had a protective order on him for 2 years when i left him. it was crazy.

I took my 7 year old nephew to Burger King today and he got offended when I asked him if he wanted to play in the restaurant's play gym (the play area they have for kids). He also didn't want his toy that he got with his Kids meal. He said to me stop treating me like a little kid. Is he right? Is 7 too old to do this kind of stuff?

My sister Dee came from 600 miles away in August w/o asking. Brought her hyperactive 3 yr old son, too. Moved in with my 72 yr old mom and took over- house severely damaged (writing on walls w/markers, smashing furniture & keepsakes, rotting food under beds and carpets). Plus Dee expects mom to babysit every time she goes to work (about 50 hours a week) AND when she goes out to shop or when she is sleeping which is a lot of the time. My mom is frazzled - I came over and found her staring at a wall and weeping on Tuesday, with the kitchen full of rotting food ( she was afraid to clean it because Dee had told her not to, that she would do it when she was good and ready.) Yesterday mom asked me to take Dee out & try and talk to her, and I was appalled to see Dee using mom's Debit Card. Found out she told mom she got the card or she would never see her or grandson again. Mom won't let me confront the B.i.t.ch. because she is scared of losing g/son. Counselling rejected. Please, help?

I just lost my children's father. He was murdred. I can't stop thinking about him. Every since I found out I've been crying eveyday. We broke up but he started coming around from time to time. I told him I couldn't be with him because I refused to have my heart broken again. But I wanted us to be friends for the kids sake. I really don't get along with his mom or sister. Since he have a new baby with another girl, they show favortism to his 5 month old son and his 7 year old daughter, not our twin sons that are 5 years old. It really hurts my feelings because his mom and sister really get along with his new baby momma. Knowing that he's dead hurts so bad. He was my frist love. How can I cope with this and how many of you have a similar story?

you?The only reason that my husband and I live there is because we are both disabled and he is waiting for his social security to start. I don't know how long this will take. In the meantime, I need some sensible advice. She says things to hurt me on purpose. I do my part as much as I can.

it would save us on taxes. Well, I am disabled and I just learned I can have it in my name and qualify for a homestead exemption. So, I told my husband to talk to her about signing over to me, but he keeps conveniently forgetting about it. I don't plan on leaving him or trying to take anything from him, but if he passed away, I may not have a home to live in. His mother does not like me at all. Please advice me how to handle this as politely as possible.

Recently, I had some issues with school so I returned home for a little while and got a job to save up money for my return. My parents did not seem to have a problem with it and in fact, seemed thrilled to have me back home. However, I overheard the two of them talking negatively about me and it seems that their kind behavior towards me is fake. I don't know what to do. Do I have a right to be upset? After all, it is their house. If I had known how they felt, I would have found somewhere else to go.

My twin sister gave up her child in a partially open adoption about 18 years ago in Oklahoma. She and the adoptive family communicated for a while in the beginning, sent pictures and letters. However, her abusive boyfriend destroyed all of the pictures and letters she had, and now my sister is deceased. I would love to try to locate this young man and see if he is interested in contact with me. Any suggestions on where to start?

My mother is dying. I think she may have another couple of weeks, but not much more than that. My father was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and may only have 6 months or so. I'm 39 and single. Just wondering... does anyone really care about you other than your mother and father? They would give anything - everything - to help. They would rush to your side if you needed help. They would cry when you were hurt. They would sacrifice gladly to benefit you. When they die, does anyone else even come close?

The old saying goes sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you. That's not always true when it comes to children. I tell my children that all the time. But also tell them if someone puts their hands on you, you have the right to defend yourself. Is that wrong? My 13 year old daughter got into a fight with a 13 year old boy and now she has to go to court for battery. The boy has been causing a problem since the first day of school and she finally got fed up with it, after 4 months.
