I took my 7 year old nephew to Burger King today and he got offended when I asked him if he wanted to play in the restaurant's play gym (the play area they have for kids). He also didn't want his toy that he got with his Kids meal. He said to me stop treating me like a little kid. Is he right? Is 7 too old to do this kind of stuff?

he is if he says he is. You can't make him act younger than he feels. Maybe he's destined for bigger things like pokemon or something.

It totally depends on the kid. Most kids still enjoy that stuff at age 7, but if he wants to be treated like a "young man" why not? Let him show you how he wants to be treated and what he wants to do. Offer him options and he can pick and choose whether to still be a kid at that moment or not. Kids have started going through puberty and hormonal changes as early as 8 or 9 yrs old (scary thought, I know) and if you recall, we all wanted to be older than we were when we were kids. Don't stress it.

I work with kids age 5-13 for a living and i would not be surprised if some kids feel this way. 7 is young, but at the same time, a big kid. Maybe your child is at an age where he wouldnt be amused to go play himself in the area, but i bet if he was with some friends, they would go crazy....just like my 13 year olds who, of course wouldnt go play in there by themselves, but throw some friends in, they would be all over it!!

They focus on Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Nobody cares about Burger King

Not with my 7 year old son. Unless you were at a BK with a toddler playground. Also he might have got a toddler toy, but if neither one of theze to are correct then maybe he thinks he is to grown up for that type of stuff.

My son is 11 and still haunts me to take him to McD's to play in the play area, and get a Happy Meal. The kid could eat 2 of those already. I wish he would outgrow it.

It depends on the child. They all mature at a different rate and this one seems to be ahead of the game.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. MAYBE SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO HIM TO MAKE HIM THINK HE IS OLDER THAN THAT. YOU TELL HIM HE IS STILL A CHILD. KIDS GROW UP TOO FAST ANYWAY. IF HE WANTS TO BE SO GROWN UP THEN GET A JOB.
