apparently it is damaging to tell a child that they are naughty or to send them to a naughty chair etc. What do you think of this?
Cannot spank or slap cannot even tell them they are naughty, just what are parents supposed to do now?

My mother in law has 6 grandchildren but only treats the biological one like a true grandchild. Out of the 6, three of them are ours...two of mine from a previous marriage and one that we are adopting. I have argued with my hubby about this and he is in total agreement with me that she "should" treat them all the same, but alas she doesn't. I know I can't make her love my children, but what can I do about everytime I turn around she is talking about the only grandchild that she has, but then she will complain that my children won't call her grandma...she didn't even get them b-day presents this year...

I have an uncle who was very dear to me, who passed away about three years ago...I know it sounds weird, "just" being an uncle and all, but our family is close-knit...and he died young--he was only 49 (he had a fatal heart attack)...and I have a picture of our whole family from Thanksgiving several years back, and he's front and center, kneeling...I just miss him alot sometimes and wish he could have been around to meet my baby girl...he helped raise me when I was little...just wondered if this happens to you guys too--thinking of a loved one, out of the blue...and being really sad?! Maybe I'm oversensitive. Who knows?

My fiance has been Desperately trying to find his daughter. Years ago when he was a teenager he got together with a girl that he worked with. She became pregnant, and had a little girl. He never got to see the baby except for once from a distance. The mother of the child ran away with the baby and it just about broke his heart. Mind you this was years ago. The baby is about 17-18yrs old now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can find either the mother of his daughter? We have just recently engaged and he is determined to find his daughter BEFORE we get married. While I want to get married within the year, I want more for him to find his long lost daughter. Any one with any info that might help us, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help. Please. Thank you!

My normally loving, even tempered daughter has become moody, tearful, getting headaches and so tired from her first half term at secondary school. She is finding longer days, so much homework and general build up hard to deal with.....any suggestions how i can help?

Just curious if you or anyone you know has ever been on that show COPS - and if so has there life changed at all? Some of those people are really "out there" and you just got to shake your head and wonder what ever happened to them.

ok, you have the right to (dis)like whomever you choose but you should be nice to everyone and behave yourself, right? be moral & dignified in your dealings with others - so i guess, what i'm really asking is how come people don't stick to that

thanks

What is “it”? Everything. I mean, women I meet, seem to have it all: jobs, families, nice clean houses, husbands, friends, great children – you get the picture. I have all of this, but I am a mess. Well, I almost have this- the house is never clean, I am stressed at work, nothing ever seems good enough for my children, etc. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am very thankful for all I have in my life; it is just that I wish I could manage it better. I just feel like I need more than 24 hours in a day to accomplish what needs to be done.
What really gets me is that no other mother I meet seems to have the same feelings. If I mention "it" I don't find support, & leave feeling inadequate.
Please email me (sherylmclaughlin@cox.net) and let me know if you are experiencing the same feelings-explain how you feel-also let me know if you have come up with a system to make your life manageable & how. I would love to put all the responses in a book so we can acknowledge and support each other.

I'm the mom; I've been trying to get rid of him too; the kids are correct; he shouldn't be here. He wants to get married; I don't; I told him I am putting the kids first and to get out; but he is hasn't gone, and I have no support system. I wanted to have a fresh start without him; just my children and me; I love them and want to put them first - I want him out too - how do I get him out; also he does have a job now, and has been helping in my business; still, I want him to have his own place - not to be here with me. How do I get him out for good?

my sister inlaw says nasty comments about my child. it really gets to me. she is just a ***** in general towards us. always trying to make me feel uncomfortable and left out. i have thought about giving her the same treatment back towards her child but cant get the confidence to. why does she act like this towards me and how can i stop it? comments directed at me she only does when no one is around, but isn't scared to say things about my child in front of other family members. why won't anyone stick up for us? do you think that other family members notice her behaviour. why dont they say something to her and put her in her place? is it because they like her more than me? i feel that she influences other people to say comments about my child to. what should i do?
