I have a kindergartner and he has homework just once a week but I do want to set aside 10-15 minutes a day to work on reading together. He has a short attention span, (well totally normal for his age) But what works for you?

Do you have a scheduled time every day were they MUST be doing homework? What time has worked for you, why? Should I give him a break after school to watch tv or play, then try do sit him down? I know he's still sooo young but I want to start healthy homework habits now. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

His father disappeared some 12 years ago...we have been divorced some 13 years...he is a horrid person who uses women...married numberous times...with many kids besides mine...and can find me through my parents easily...but I think it is obvious he doesn't want to have anything to do with his two sons....I told my son, 14, that he is not ready emotionally to deal with what he may find in reaction and that his father can find us at any time but obviously chooses not to..I also agreed that when my son turns 18...and his father has not tried to find him...that I would help him find him...and he can say whatever he wishes to him and I would go with him....it this wrong?

When was the last time you saw your parents? Do you live in the sam town? Same state? Do you have a close relationship with them?

I moved 3000 miles away from where I grew up and my parents. I haven't seen them in 6 months and I get to see them this weekend. I am driving 350 miles to meet them before they head back home. I am so excited!!!

See you working your tush off cleaning the house...mowing the lawn...or what ever...but NEVER EVER offer to help you out....these are well mannered kids that other parents tell me that they are so helpful and polite....I keep thinking...are they talking about my kids??...I am not asking how to get them to help...that is easy...you say do it!!....but why do they offer to help others...but not their own mother???

With four children at home. This is affecting my childrens organizational skills in school, at home etc. We can fix the home, then in a short period of time, it can go back to the way it was toys everywhere, books, clothes. It is hard to keep up! What can my wife and I do to correct this behavior so my children can get organized themselves without hiring a maid. We need help bad....Is there a professional that can help?

Ok, me and my mom used to get along fine. Now we don't. Everytime we talk, we end up arguing. She swears up and down that I say something smart when I don't! Sometimes I do catch myself but she gets angry for no reason! I do yell back because she pushes me to the point. My mom has even gotton alittle bit violent (ex. pushing things off desk, grabbing me by my shirt collar) This has gone to the point where she has called the police on me and made me talk to a detective! She keeps saying 'I'm going to get rid of you, I'm giving up my right's for you.' I want this to stop and be friends with her again. While were on my mom, she obese, and smokes tobbaco. Would that having to do with anything? Also, she had a brain tumor, I think she still has it. Also. I'm still a teenager, so go eas somewhat.

I'm a Sr. and I'm 17 yrs old I've been in JROTC for all my three yrs in high school. I have the opportunity to go to college and not have to pay for anything. The catch is i would have to join the army I would not be at the front line i would be working as a nurse or a doctor and i only have to serve two to four years. My parents don't think it's a good idea but they are already paying for my other two sisters for college. I plan to become a doctor which is a lot of college and a lot of money. should i join the military even if my parents don't want me to or should i listen and not joinl?

I found out that most people with my last name are from Sweden or the netherlands... but that doesnt mean my heritage is of that descent does it? i would really like to know and i dont have any direct family anymore that can tell me... its just frustrating when everyone knows that theres is and i dont. so can i just assume thats correct, or is there better search abilities on the internet, that dont cost money to use?

I am 22 years old and am an office manager, making good money and doing well i went to college right after high school, remodeled my room, etc. Basically i am doing well. I am only child and my dad at first was kinda racist. but has definetly calmed that down because i am dating a 34 yr. old man (mexican) but hes not ur typical mexican i guess you can call it. he loves me and puts me on a super high pedistal i admit not perfect seeing im taurus and hes scorpio we tend to bump heads lil bit at times. i love hime and am attached to him. my mom suspected being just friends are up each others butts all the time, etc. etc. so she asked finally and i told her figure it out she is not stupid ya know. i knew she thought it but never wanted to believe it. well now as of today she knows and of course said well i am not helping you with anything any more dont ask for nothing cuz i dont want no help apparently for lowering myself. this hurt and feels so so wrong. it does not change my feeelings

My mother claims she was raped and claims i am the result (please don't judge me, you do not know the full sackfull of lies i've had to deal with for the last 20 years).
However, she married the man i was led to believe to be my father 6 months before i was born who incedentally thought i was his until late into her pregnancy, even then she did not mention she had been raped when it came out i was not his child and then in 1976, gave birth to my step brother.
I am a little confused as I though that woman who experienced this type of horrible act, would probably never trust another man for a very long time. Believe me when i add that my step father is not the type of person who is sympathetic, or even undertanding, and of that, when my sister in llaw opened up about her own rape, my mother did not react in the way i would of expected someone who had been through a similar thing. I would of expected her to be able to sypathise and understand, but she did not have a clue.
