My parents taught me to be grounded in basic fundamentals. To have common sense (well, that's from my dad) However, I didnt see that happening much from their relationship and so I relied on the basic teachings of Christ, the commandments and abiding by local and state laws. Staying in one place was more beneficial to moving around alot and I think family dinner together was the ceiling wax on the whole.
The rest of my life was incorporating ideas outside my family with my own. Mostly, singing together made us feel happy, laugh and smile and everyone seemed to forget their petty problems. Music was a great influence in happiness and serenity.

Actually, they are still teaching me much. A couple of the most important things they have taught me is to:
Be truthful and honest
Flee evil
That love is patient and kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always persevers.
