This problem only started about a month ago, before that I couldnt keep him in the house. Now I have a hard time getting him outside at all. He has adhd and is on Ritalin. Could this have anything to do with his obsession with bugs? I am so worried about him. I just want him to enjoy being a kid. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I love my mom and appreciate all that she did for me as I was growing up. However, since I was about 16, we've started to change roles. She has had a difficult life and suffers from depression and various health problems. Because of this, she is unable to hold down a job and is on medicaid. That covers her rent but she completely depends on me for all of her other expenses. She seems like she has no ability to control her finances. If I leave it up to her to pay bills, they go unpaid and then I have to pay late fees on top of them. I have to give her reminders of how to budget and what she can and can't afford. She's in her mid 50's now. Most people my age can go to their mom for advice and financial help instead of the other way around. She always appologizes for being as she says, a "burden", on me. I don't care about the money. I just want her to be happy and to not have to worry about her. Has anyone else ever had a similar situation and what can I do to make her more independent?

So what do you do when your dad's driving and he's had three "Old Fashions"?

Or your boss drives you to lunch and has had two glasses of wine; she's got a small frame and could be declaired legally drunk ... but who really knows, and she is your boss ...

Or your buddy is twice as big as you and they're already in the car, but you're pleading with them to get out and not to drive.

Yes, I love this phrase, but it's only a phrase until I figure out how to work it ... and obviously, I'm clueless.

Any helpful practical hints?

When I put my foot down, she goes to her grandmothers house. There is no support there. She's basically a good kid but lately wants to stay out all night with her new friends. She has her own car, & pays for everything herself. She still drives past 9 because she's not afraid of getting caught. I was easy on her when she was young because her father was abusive. Now she thinks everyone owes her something. Have tried counseling & ended up with Social Svcs involved because she made things up. ( Which she later admitted) Any Ideas?

I came into the family when they were 7 and 9 yrs old (now 12 and 14) We all get on really well, inculding the ex and other partner. It's all very adult and cool, but as the boys hit teenager-dom, their boundaries, in the small day-to-day space that is just normal life are getting larger and spikier and I'm finding it unexpectedly difficult! Help!

I have just been diagnosed with depression, according to the doctor I have been depressed for over two and a half years. My partner and I have just split up(I asked him to move out as we had problems that needed to be solved and we needed some distance to be able to look at them properly) and he has said he doesn't want us to get back as he can't "cope" with me.If I've been depressed for the majority of our realationship is it really me he's been supposedly coping with or is it me with depression which is a totally different kettle of fish? Also why did it take me to ask him to leave for him to go if I'm so difficult to cope with.
