You can start around three months, or when the baby holds head up really well. Keep it soupy though, mix with breast milk or formula. You should have a book or schedule from your dr.

Well... you can start rice at 4 months, but be sure to mash/blend it. Since the baby has no teeth and is unused to munching, start with rice porridge. Give only 1/2 a tea spoon first day. Gradually increase. Continue to breast feed/ bottle feed the baby till he is at least 9 months old.

I would ask your child's pediatrician. However, I started mixing rice cereal with my son's formula at about four months. I would mix it in his bottle and use a cross-cut nipple since they won't clog as easily. It gave him a fuller belly and helped him ( and me) to sleep longer through the night. Sometimes I would also add a teaspoon or two of baby apple sauce to the mix and make a little smoothie for him!

if your child is not staying full for four hours it is time to start cereal, it should be a little thin to start. Start with a tablespoon or two or dry cereal and expand it from there if they still act hungry. My grandmother recommended age 3 months to start cereal or when they can hold their heads up it is up to you but a full baby is a happy baby and a happy baby makes a happy mommy. when you start jarred foods start with veggies first preferably the orange ones first since they are harder to start if you start with fruit first.

I started my baby (now 7mth) on rice at 2mths. It will not hurt your baby just don't give him/her to much the first couple of times. See how they do with it at first.

Six months is the recommended guideline.
Call your pediatricians office and talk to a nurse practioner over the phone. They can help explain food stages for infants.
(If you give them food earlier, their bodies can not digest it and it does not benefit them.)
