Being out of work is not excuse not to make payments.

At one time, those laws made some sense.

Not so much anymore!

It's a state matter, so you have to work it through the state legislature.

Incidentally, I took my ex to court, because she and her foolish lawyer, who wanted to "run me up the creek," were demanding too much, and raising hell about irrelevant matters. The judge sided with me, lowered the support, and told the other lawyer to keep quiet.

Wait a minute here............Guys don't get put in jail for nothing! They go to jail because they are WAY behind in child support. You have to explain what you mean by "no fault of their own?"

Look at it this way. A couple get married and have three children. The couple get a divorce ten years later. The father moves out and has the regular visitation rights and is ordered by the court to pay X amount of money to his wife for weekly child support. The amount of child support depends on many factors.
The guy pays fairly well. Time goes by and for whatever reason, they get in an argument over something. He is telling her she isn't using the support money on the kids. He shouldn't have to pay it, blah, blah,blah..................

If the mother is using every penney she gets on the kids, it still is not enough. But you do what you can to make it for your kids. Then the guy skips a payment here and there. That cuts the income for his kids, not his ex. The kids suffer in the end. The kids always suffer. Child support laws are biased toward the kids!!!! They want the parents to support the kids they brought into this world.
The laws should be changed. They should say, man or woman, paying child support, miss one payment and you go to jail. That would help buy groceries for the kids. If the law read that way and they enforced it, I can say 99% of the parents would pay on time.

But, that is our FREE society. Make the laws and then say, "O.K. we'll let you go this time, but don't do it again. I mean it!" What happens when parents threaten their kids with that? YES, the kid is doing it again within five minutes because they know you are not going to do anything about it......WHY make laws or rules if they are not enforced?!

any person that dose not pay their child support goes to jail the thing is that the moms are the ones that have the kids. So it only seems like the men are the only ones.
From my own experience my sister in law went to jail for not paying child support.

Don't think it's only men. Even though the majority of mothers have custody of their children, there are some decent men that are suppose to recieve child support and don't get it. My husband hasn't recieved a penny from his sons mother and now she tried to take off with him. Little does she know that she is goin to be put in jail in the next couple days for pulling the bs she did.

Because in our country if a man fathers a child he is responsible for helping support it. Some women have to pay child support too and if they don't pay they go to jail too. Most peope like the pleasure of sex but not the resposibility or cost of caring for a child that might be created. Remember the original purpose of sex was procreation not plesure.

Paying maintenance on time + getting/keeping receipts = no jail.

well, i think you're rationalizing there a bit.

you have to keep going to court to get an accuarate rate of support for your income.

don't have kids if you can't afford them, Bill Gates.
