I have been in her life for approximately 1 month and she was so happy to meet me and I felt the same way. For 2 weeks she was on the right track then her "boyfriend" returned from an abrupt absence, now she is back to her old ways, staying gone for days at a time and constantly lying about where she is and who she is with. Mind you, this "boy" is 19 and I would love to put hands on him, yet I feel that since I wasnt there for the 1st 15 years of her life I have lil leverage on what I can say with out her bringing it up. She missed a whole semester of school and will probably have to do the 9th grade over again. Her mother and I have talked to her and explained that the road she is travelling doesnt lead anywhere, yet she continues to do what she feels. Is there anyone that has gone thru similar situation if so what was the outcome? I dont want to be a 36 year old Grandfather nor do I want my daughter to be a "loser"... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My stepson is driving me crazy!! He is almost 17 and is still in the 8th grade. He likes to sneak out of the house and also "steals" things (but doesn't know what happened to them). I told his father if he didn't straighten up, the boy would have to go or I would. Am I wrong for saying this?

I laid my ring on my dresser, the next morning it was gone. Earlier that morning my step-daughter was in my bathroom flushing the toilet, then immediately went downstairs and used another bathroom. After looking all day she said maybe you dropped your ring in the toilet and now a bum will have it. The bum can pawn it and have money to eat on. She then called from her friends house to tell me that she had lost the $200.00 ring that I had given to her on her 13th birthday. It is obvious that she is mad because before I came along she had her dad all to herself, she will say that to me. Her father and I were highschool sweethearts 25 years ago. How do I not have harsh feelings toward her if I don't find the ring? On top of everthing else, the ring was my grandfathers, then my mothers, and now mine. She just thought my husband had bought it for me. I am so sad that I just ache!

We have 2 sons. Robbie 4 and Billy 3. My mother-in-law favours Robbie. She even invites Robbie for sleep overs right in front of Billy. When Billy says "me too grandma?" she always say not this time, but she never spends any time with him. My husband and I decided this has to stop, so we offered her three possiblities. One-take both kids for the weekend. Two-Alternate taking Billy one weekend and Robbie the next, or Three-Don't take either of them. Well, she got very angry and opted with no. 3, and said "fine I won't take either of them then!!" Now she's royalaly pissed. Any suggestions on what to do? How to tell the kids?

Thanks

My niece ( 23 yrs. old ) , with a 2 year old and pregnant, is going to be staying with us for a while, not sure of how long. She has no car, and few skills, but says that she can do "some" work on computers. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how she can find a job that she can do from here without having to pay any money beforehand?

My dad abandoned me because he didnt want to pay child support, now im 17 and im trying to hunt his *** down.
When my mom had me, she asked him, what will you do if she comes knocking on your door at 18 looking for you, and he said he'll say "im sorry, i dont know you" and shut the door. But I dont want to be just another statistic, i want to contact his sorry ***.

He even gave me a sister that i met when i was 9, so she doesnt have a father either.

Is anybody in the same situtation?

You can have four different kinds of aunts:
your father's sister,
your mother's sister,
the wife of your father's brother and
the wife of your mother's brother.
Similar you have four different kinds of uncles.
Are there in your own language different words for it?
If so, please mention it.

I have mostly been a stay-home mom. I have worked a couple times (3 times, for a few months each). Now my kids are older (15, 13, and 11) and I am wondering if they need me that much at home. I don't hear much from stay home mom's of teenagers. I was wondering how much of a positive (and/or negative) it would be for me to continue staying home with them at these ages. I am looking for answers from parents of teens, particularly. Thank you for any help.
