Yes. I would also ask her if there is anything she doesn't use anymore and do all the work to sell it for her on eBay. I would also try to find her assistance in any way possible, up to and including moving her in with me.

Well, it depends on how she feels about that furniture. So long as it doesn't hold any sentimental ties to it I suppose that would be ok. Also, you don't say why she is down to her last dollar so if it's just hard times, I would do whatever I can to help her make money, get assistance, whatever you can do to help. If she is down to her last dollar because she drinks it away or is a drug addict (which I'm not accusing her of), then I would get her a different kind of help other than money.

If you didn't need the money...why not? Your mom I am sure took care of you all your life, so why not return the favor and help her out wherever you can.
