It depends on how old you are. If you are under 18 you may be entitled to child support until you are 18, plus back child support for all the years he didn't pay. If you are over 18 then go for it anyway. If he hasn't helped you out before now, maybe he will want a chance to make up for it. gluck

Who doesn't NEED money? Biological father or not, he is STILL a man who left you high and dry! You can't put a price on the emotional conflict that he has left you! If you ask him for money NOW, the relationship between you two will be based only on monetary gain, and will never resolve emotional conflicts between the two of you! If all you care about is getting his money, you will NEVER get to know the father he should have been to you!

I disagree with everyone here. What is the pretense for you having only just met him? Did he abandon you? Was your existence kept from him. If the latter then I would develop the relationship. If he chose not to be a dad then I say you are entitled to it.

Another thing...the way you come at him makes a huge difference too. If you act as if it's an entitlement then you probably won't get far and lose him but that won't negate his responsibility. I think if you developed the relationship and eased in your desire for something he might be willing to help.

The other question is what you "need" really a need or a want? How would you acquire this w/out his assistance.

Tread lightly.

No, even though you recently met, he is your father and should want to help you. Just ask nicely like, "Dad, I know we just met, but I'm in a little bind and need some help, could I borrow a few bucks, I'll pay you back".
Don't let age make a difference, some people don't take in consideration of the asker being disabled & unable to work, those that take this into consideration must be healthy & able to work.

hi dude. Nothing is correct and nothing is wrong. You got to make the final decision yourself. How badly do you need this money? Are you going to spend all the money in one day? Dont be shy if you really need this money. Most important dont use this money to do something illegal. I believe you know what is right and what is wrong in life.

If you are in a situation where as you really need funds to help you out in someway then yes I would ask him if all other avenues were closed. I'm sure even if he declines he'll be able to help you out with some fatherly advice. If not then his presence really hasn't been missed all these years has it?

I have not see my daughter for 22 years. If she ask me $$$ on our 1st meeting, I will give.
It is not the value of the money, it is the value of the love you lost all these years

Depends on your age...He should be giving you some support unless your old enough to provide for your self.

Otherwise I think you should get to know him a bit before you ask him for money.

How old are you? If you are over 18 it is never ok to ask for money... you should be independent.
