I'm due in a month and my mom still hasn't decided what she'd like her grandbaby to call her. We have considered granny, grandma, nana, and "hey you!" What did/do you call your grandparents? There is no "grandpa" in the picture.

My dad died the morning after his 50th birthday. Just a little over 1 year ago. Before he died, I hadn't spoken to him in 3 months prior to his death. I had been angry at him over a disagreement we had w/ each other. He lived in another State than me, but was very much a part of my life, and a positive influence in my life & a great father. I feel so guilty and sometimes sad, that I feel like it's affecting me overall. His death was unexpected, and I find myself wishing I had not been so stubborn and gotten a chance to speak to him, at least, before he died. I did send him a B-day card, and he had called me to " thank " me for it but I wasn't their to answer my phone. Is there any suggestions on how to overcome my feelings of grief, guilt and regret with this???

I am normally a very positive, happy person...but find myself from time to time, not every day, feeling down and sad about this..even sometimes feel less motivated.

Suggestions on what I can do to get over these feelings

soon to b 14 yr old daughter doesn't like him. He's very controlling and verbally abusive putting down r self esteem. However he is also in denial that he does this and says its me. He works 1 f/t job and 2 p/t jobs dj's at a club every friday and sat nights until 3 am and also does side events. When he is home its always on the go. No one is allowed to relax. Anyways I am moving out on the 1st of july so my kids will come back home. He in the past has helped out w/ birthdays and school stuff. My child is graduating 8th grade on wed and her birthday is on sat. I now am coming up w/funds for her dress and her grad/birth present, parties, moving out, car pymnts and the rest of the bills I will now have to pay on my own. He's not helpng out w/any of it cuz of her smart mouth. I talk to her about her mouth but what she has to say is truthful and i feel she should stand up for herself as i should have learned to do. is he hurting her or me in this situation, why am i the 1 paying?

My 21 year old son graduated from collage last year and moved back home as may do these days. It’s not that I didn’t want him moving back but now that he has been home for a year and a half the tension between him and I is at a breaking point not to mention what it is doing to my marriage. Even before he want off to collage I could never get him to help out with chores around the house or get him to do anything without a huge argument and now he feels as an adult I have no right to expect him to help with any household chores. I brought up the subject of rent which him and his mother both flatly reject as being unfair. He has a full time job and believes his money is his and my house is his to use as long as he wants to stay. He has
more perks living here then most kids get with his own garage bay for is car and a second garage at my mothers home next door for working on cars, He has a room in my business
for his ebay sales, cable TV and internet access in his room. My wife still cleans his room and does his laundry. I can’t say my son is lazy, quite the opposite when it comes to making money or doing things that benefit himself he is a real work horse but when asked to help out around the house I get no help at all whether asked or told to and on the rare chance he does anything its on his time frame when the spirit moves him. At this point he has no plans on moving out until he can buy his own home because he would never think of renting.

My boyfriend split when I was 4 months pregnant. I found him through serach a few years ago. He said he wanted to get to know our child but he only comes on messenger every few months and complains to her about having to pay child support. She is upset after every chat. Today I had enough and told him to stop unloading on a child he doesn't even know. She is not his therapist. I said if you want to talk to her than just talk to her and stop dumping all his (I have nothing to eat but Ramen Noodles) crap in her lap. His response was. "I will never talk to either one of you again!" Should I have kept quiet or did I do the right thing?

My grandma passed away last week, 84 years old. Her funeral was over the weekend. I'm here thinking about how adventurous she was. She went hot air ballooning, motorcycle riding.

But the craziest thing she ever did was go SKYDIVING. She was 55 at the time. How bout your grams? =)

My 10 year old boy wants to buy a Sony W800 cell phone, which is very expensive (in my opinion) for someone his age. He's buying it with his savings, but it still bothers me. Won't he be asking for a Hummer when he grows up? He's a straight A student and all, but that's not how i was raised....

The 18 year old still lives with me at home. My boyfriend wants her to move out, I don't want my dauhter to leave home. I would make him move out before I told my duaghter she had to leave . Would I be wrong if I did that.?

Think about it for a second. What is the reason and where is the motivation coming from? Do most people have childrean more or less because that's what they think they're 'supposed to do'?

Is there a reason for having children that isn't a selfish one? "I want to have kids because I want to love them." "I want to have kids because I want to have a family (just like/better than I did when I was a kid)." "I want to have kids because I love my spouse and I want to see how our kids would turn out." Or my personal favorite: "I want to have kids so someone can take care of me when I'm old." In case you don't see the pattern, there are a lot of 'I's and 'me's in those sentences.

Please help me understand.

I recently got marred and my husband has custody of his two boys. I don’t have any children yet. Their mother doesn’t seem to want them she only picks them up on the weekends, Friday 7pm and drops them back Sun 11AM. What is the point of even picking them up? And I am so tired of his kids there always fighting and making noise. My husband promised me when we were dating that their mother would take them~~~ HA! Still didn’t happen. Women should keep their children because stepmother DONT want their kids either. My only concern is going to be my children!

I sent a letter to an estranged cousin of mine about two weeks ago. (He's in his eighties; I'm seventeen.) He's a college professor and since I assumed he would be busy, I included in the letter: "I'm aware that you must be very busy, so please respond at your convenience." Like I said, it's two weeks later. Should I continue to wait, or should I send another letter saying "You may have missed my first letter.."?
