Family - June 2006

i have been told by my mother and brother that i married the wrong person,i am a piece of crap and i always have a bad attitude.we are fighting again over something stupid, food. they tricked me into eating something i would not have ate if i had known what it was. and they knew i wouldnt of ate it so they manipulated lied and tricked me. they crossed my boundries.then when i told them i didnt appriciate it they called me names,screamed at me and told me to get out because i ruin everything. i feel very betrayed and hurt so what do i do now? in the past our fights have turned violent and phsyical because my brother drinks alot,and my mother is always defending him. please help i feel like im loosing my sanity.

There's only two of us. We're both girls. I'm 5 years older than her. I'm 25 and I was the one who gave her allowance since first year college but she's always mean and uncourteous to me. It always hurt my pride coz she never respects me. She even yells and swear at me. I always wanted to ignore her totally and leave her. I've been suffering her meanness.

How do you get through to a teen, when you need to lecture them or your try to calmly talk to them, their defensive response is: "Quit yelling at me!" Example" My teen has been harrassed at school by bullies. She is a bully herself. She dresses like a bully. My 1 rule is no red. (I chose my battles) So she wears black, but it makes her look hard, the school and I have told her this. She doesnt think its a problem, but when I look at her I tell her it gives me the impression, "come on- mess with me. She says she wants to change but when I try and talk to her its the "Quit bitching!" My other teens do the same thing, when I talk about school or homework, its "Stop! Your being annoying!" I could be in the most monotone voice and they still think I am yelling. How do you let kids hear the importance of our lectures? Any ideas? I feel like they don't respect me when they cut or shut me off! I know they are teens and its typical, BUT they still need to listen to me with respect.

My son has abused me in the recent past, stolen money from me, stolen my car with a gang member and totalled it, cursed me out beyond belief, and now he is either home sleeping or off with his friends all hours of the night and morning. He's 17 years old and will be 18 in October. The law does not help at all. I've called officers to my home when he would threaten me and/or get so angry that I was feeling afraid, and they would tell me that they could not do anything and that I needed to stop calling them because they weren't family counselors. I called the Dept of Children and Families and they said that they aren't there for parents, only children and that he could not be removed from my home because of his violent criminal past. (I had him arrested when he picked me up and threw me through my closet doors. It is listed under domestic violence and therefore, only a misdemeanor.)

Me and a male friend of mine have been talking for the past 6 months. We're not together, but we've been playing the role for some time now. I've fallen in love with him and he claims to have strong feelings for me, but I have a lot of insecurities in our friendship. We are currently on summer break in college, but he still lives in the city where we attend school. He begged me to come down and visit him the entire summer, so I finally went last Thursday and stayed until this past Sunday. We had a great time, until I checked his e-mail, which is something I've been doing for a while. Comes to find out, he's sending and getting a lot of messages from females that live in the same dorm as me. I was not at his house when I checked it, but when I did, I quickly called him and told him that I was on my way over there. When I got there, I cursed him out and told him that we could no longer be friends because I heard that he has a lot going on in his life that I wasn't dealing with.

for little little things she cries she has no patience at all she is not stubborn.from day one when she is born she is crying .first she used to cry every 15 minutues sometimes whole day.it went till she bcame 3, after that it reduced down to 50% . she is not freewith everyone .she does not make friends she has stage fear too.

My brother is married to a very controllingwife. He has not even called/spoken to my parents in over a year. He doesn't call on mothers/fathers day and no longer sees my children whom he was extremely close to before he was married. I mostly feel terrible for my parents who are older now and were always devoted parents. My brother told my mom (before he was married) that his wife needs people to fuss over her and why can't (my mom) just make a fuss over his (bride). My mom is very loyal but we are not people that generally make a fuss over others. My mom would invite them over and be cordial and pleasant but most of her time now is spent taking my dad to doctor visits, etc. His wife was very petty around the wedding. (she is 40). My brother told me I was not accepting of his wife. When i asked what I did he said I never ran up to hug his wife at their engagement. By the way - sister in law's father never saw his family again also once he got married. How do I help my parents?

I watch my grandsons in the summer when there is no school. But I also take care of my mother in law who has alzheimers. In the fall the kids will go back to school all day. My mother in law is not a very nice person sometimes, but my husband depends on me to watch her when he's working. I'm 55 and I have been home watching her, she lives with us, I have been watching her for nearly two years. My husband supports me very well financially, but I just feel like I would do better for myself if I had a real job. I don't know what the work force is like out there anymore for a person my age.

He said 'Yes.' I asked him if I have ever been nasty to him, he said 'No.' I said 'Are you sure? Never?' He replied 'Yes, never.'
I told him I loved him and he said the same back. He then came out with 'Even if you were nasty to me, Dad, I would still love you.'
I had to stop a tear in my eye.
Is that not the just the nicest thing you have ever heard from a five year old!!?
