Grandparents I believe do not have rights as you have parental rights over your children. They really need to look at themselves & decide what way to go as their actions will be pointless as they will loose. The child is being used as a porn between you & your family & could have a negative effect on him or her. I'm a single mum & its hard enough as it is to bring up your kids on your own & if your parents cannot remain out of your business & see this would be a great life for the little one, they are being so selfish & acting younger than your child.
Tell them to put their toys back into their pram & just be happy & supportive for you & your child. After all you damn well deserve it & dont you forget that & one last point that child is yoursssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss to neurture guide for when they go out into the big wide world. Good luck sweet you will make it,remain positive.

Grandparents have no rights unless they are the guardian of the child. If the other parent has no rights over the child you can leave tomorrow. If the other parent has some type of access, you gota to some begging - even if you have brought the child up yourself.

hi,
i'm training to be a solicitor so thought i'd give my opinion on this. Grandparents have no automatic right in the UK. However, if they have been taking care of the child they can apply to the court for leave to apply for access. The chances of them being able to even apply for leave to then apply to gain parental control to prevent the child moving away is extremely remote! i would not worry about it. unless there is a risk with the child being with you i cannot envisage grandparent's rights interfering with your at all.

This could be a difficult one. Basically it boils down to this... If you have parental rights they have no argument but they could apply for parental rights through the court. Your best bet would be to speak with the Law Centre and they can advise you.
Congrats for bringing up your child alone and good luck for the future wherever it may take you xx

Grandparents can apply to the court for rights, but they cant stop you going to th USA unless they have a very convincing case that it will be bad for the kids.

As far as i believe they have no legal rights to stop you from removing your kids from the country. I think they are just trying to frighten you to try and make you do what they want. I would promise them that they will not lose touch with their grand kids and then i would do what is best for your self and the kids. Good luck.

I was going to ask the same question, becuase my daughter isnt fit to be a mother. I was going to seek legal advice, you can get advice for free from a solicitor and then you have to pay for any service. Just ask, because thats what im going to do.
