just think about your actions if you know its going to make your parents angry then just dont do it!! this way the lies will stop because you behaved yourself.

Ask yourself what are the pros and cons of each action? You could come clean, say nothing or lie. So get a piece of paper and make three columns. Put the solutions (lie, truth, nothing) at the top. Now list the pros of each. Then list the cons. Now decide based on what seems best. The mistake is over and if you have learned from it, that is best. I don't know if making other people unhappy by burdening your mistakes onto them is best. Plus you probably have a good idea how your parents are going to react. Also, is are the consequences of your mistake over? Meaning did what you did - was it trivial and unlikely to keep affecting your life or is it something big that you may need the help of people you trust to overcome. The only thing is, if you committed a crime, if you confess to anyone, they have no right to not answer questions about it if questioned. Sounds complicated? It is, that is life. Good luck.

Always telling the truth is best. Have you heard the saying "what goes around, comes around". Once you start one lie, you will continue lying to cover up the other lie. And the lie will come back at you and hit you in the face.
No matter what you did, telling the truth about it will keep you from being punished worse than if you are caught in a lie.

Telling the truth is the only way to go. When you are an honest person, you develop better relationships and you feel good about yourself because you know you have nothing to hide or worry about. Also, being a trustworthy person leads to things in life that won't be available to people who have a reputation of being less than honest.

Sometimes, there is no solution that will make everyone happy. In cases like that, you have to decide whether you will do what you know to be right or if you will take the easy path. Be careful -- if you decide on the lie, you may have to live with a reputation as a liar.

I always tell my children, if you do something that you realize you shouldn't have done or knew you shouldn't have done it in the first place, you come talk to me about it - You will get in less trouble being honest about it than you will if I find out about it from someone else and that they tried to cover it up and not tell me about it. Not only that, if it's something that you did (and we don't know exactly what it was that you did) your parents may be able to help you out of the consequences of your mistake. That's what they are for.

You already know the answer. What would you want from them, truth or lies? Like, I am certain there are things you do not want to know about them, for sure. But from what you say, this is something they would want to know.
I would tell them you did something stupid. You know now it was stupid, and you want them to know if they want to know what it is. Give them a choice, unless they are asking you.
If they are asking, and they mean nothing to you, go ahead and lie. Why break their rules (or learts) andgo through that if they mean zero to you. BUT
if you have any feelings for them, do the right thing, tell the truth about your lies.
