There's only two of us. We're both girls. I'm 5 years older than her. I'm 25 and I was the one who gave her allowance since first year college but she's always mean and uncourteous to me. It always hurt my pride coz she never respects me. She even yells and swear at me. I always wanted to ignore her totally and leave her. I've been suffering her meanness.

I think you already gave yourself the answer. Stop doing favors for someone who is ungrateful. Don't be giving her money anymore. Hang up on her if she is unpleasant on the phone. Leave if you are together and she gets mean.

In other words, make it clear you aren't her doormat and you won't take it anymore.

Yes you can ignore her if you have to. Families have a way of healing in time but first you have to break this bad pattern.

Don't let your mom guilt you into putting up with it. If your sister tries to use your parents to guilt you into doing what she wants, explain the situation to them and tell them you aren't going to be her dog anymore.

You are only suffering because you allow it to continue.

I have two little siblings, 7 and 9 years apart from me. Sometimes I just wish they would leave for good. But what would life be without them? Yes I be nice to them and do good things for them and they turn around the next minute and say they hate because apparently I guess I did something wrong. Your sister seems to be acting like a 5 year old, not a 20 year old. Maybe you could explain to her when she yells at you, it hurts your feelings. Dont ignore her, listen to what she has to say and try to find out why she has said it. But whatever you do dont treat her the way she treats you, thats the worst thing you could do. I hope I helped, and I hope you will not suffer anymore.

Ignoring her is obviously not working. If I were in your shoes, I would want to know why she is so upset, and why she takes it all out on you. She sounds like she wants to rule you or something. You should really give her a piece of your mind and tell her how much you don't appreciate this. Especially if you are helping her, that doesn't make any sense, get this resolved as soon as possible.

MISUNDERSTANDING is a root of most of the fights .. even i have a younger sister , we use to fight allot but now we r best friends.. after i got married she started missing me and then she realised my importance in her life .. now she loves me allot cares more then ever before. in your case it may be coz u both are staying together.. try to stay away if u can ... if not let her behave the way she wants don't interfere . i know it will be really difficult .. but that's the way to go girl... moreover try to understand why she behaves like that .. try to understand her.. may be Ur nature is different then her or may be ... u both have a different kind of friend circle. just treat her like an adult now .. and that should solve ur problem.. :)
