I sent a letter to an estranged cousin of mine about two weeks ago. (He's in his eighties; I'm seventeen.) He's a college professor and since I assumed he would be busy, I included in the letter: "I'm aware that you must be very busy, so please respond at your convenience." Like I said, it's two weeks later. Should I continue to wait, or should I send another letter saying "You may have missed my first letter.."?

i think i would give it a little more time, some people do not get to things as quickly as others. since he has been estranged from family, he may take some time thinking about whether he wants to respond or not.

Maybe he is on vacation. Maybe he is busy. Maybe the mail takes awhile. Two weeks is very little time. Wait at least a month. Then try to find a phone number. At eighty, he may not be able to read if his eyes are bad.

You sound like a very nice girl. I hope he writes back. Maybe you could wait another week or two and write again or call if you have his phone number.
