NO you just have to try harder there only doing this for the best of you, believe me if I could go back to school and do it all again I'd try a lot harder then I did because you adult life depends on a lot of knowledge

Always pay attention and be prepared in class. Make sure you have done your homework, and take notes. Show that you are a willing participant and that you are eager to learn

Do not procrastinate. If a report is due by a certain date, make sure you have finished it in time.

Participate in class discussions. When you have something to share, raise your hand. Do not be discouraged if the teacher doesn't call on you. Perhaps the teacher just feels that you contribute too much, and is trying to give someone else a chance to contribute.

Work ahead of the class. Do extra work! Read further than the chapter in school! If you want to take the lead in your class you need to work hard!. However, do not work too far ahead so that it becomes detrimental to your grades now.

Make sure when you do homework, that you proofread and double check your spelling and facts. If possible ask your parents to check it for you. Many times when writing a report, we tend to miss noticing an error. Better to be safe than hand in work with mistakes.

Prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes and everything else in between. Fill out the study guides if they are supplied, or make your own. Make up some essential questions that will test the area of interest to the test.

Get yourself in a good habit of waking up a little early so you can have time to shower and have a good breakfast. Feeling refreshed and awake, are perfect studying conditions.

Study in a quiet, non-distractful environment and repeat newly registered information quietly ouloud, so that you will remember it easier. Take advantage of lunch periods and extra studying opportunities, when available.

Always remain calm when the test is being handed out.

Use the process of elimination when necessary. For example, If you are truly struggling with a particular question, skip it and continue with the next ones that you can easily answer. Make sure you mark the one you skip or make note of it so you can go back to it later. After you have finished all the questions you are sure of, then return to finish the difficult ones. Use the process of elimination on it again.

Consider working with a study buddy so you can ask each other questions you expect to be on the upcoming test and quiz each other. Make practice quizzes and take them by yourself, make practice crossword puzzles and games to help you study, and then eat well and have a good night's rest. This will help you be able to concentrate the next day.

Be sure to write legibly and with the correct writing tool during tests. Using pink pens or colored pencils can cause you to lose points.

Use mnemonics (devices for memorization) when you can.
Proper planning prevents poor performance. Use http://calendar.google.com to keep track of what you want to do in the coming days in your academic and private life. The Email
Alerts feature in Yahoo! Calendar is a boon for students.

To take good notes, you have to keep them neat and complete.

Write down anything that you think is important. Keep separate notebooks for each subject and think about having a table of contents in the front so you can go back and review your work easily. You may even consider keeping two notebooks, one at school and one at home, so if you lose one notebook, you still have another

Yes! First of all tell them that you need extra help, possibly a tutor to help you with any weakness you might be having in a particular subject. Remember parents need to know what your thinking so wait when the family is together at dinner or something and tell them how you feel in a respectful manner(brownie points). As a parent we dont always have the answers, but our focus is always the same. To produce the best adult that we possible can. They push you because they know you can do better. If they cant afford the help go to the library or the net. Allow your parents to help you find the help you need. Good Luck

P.S. Learn to communicate with them. Keep your tone down, and dont swear, all ways keep your cool no matter how upset your parents are in the long run you will reap the rewards

It might help you to do some extra tutoring to bring up your grades. I know that sometimes school work might seem useless and boring, but let me say that the more you're able to exercise your mind the better off you will be in the real world. Your parents are just worried about you, they don't what else to do to help you. If your classes are too hard, ask for help or ask to be transferred into another class. If they are too easy and you find you are bored in class, ask the teacher for more challenging work or ask to be put in a harder class.

Determine what would be the best way for you to make learning more fun and then your grade will get better. If the problem is deeper than just grades, I suggest talking to a guidance counselor. That's what they're for.

I can tell you why parents ground there kids especially if the child is a female. The main reason is that the parents don't want their kid under 18 to have a baby. Most not all teenage females are into the many things they are not suppose to be into. Like not being trust worthy, busy hanging out, busy getting high, busy having sex...So if you want your parents to lay off you a little get those grades up. Remember MONEY is not POWER. knowledge is....So get those grades up. I know that there are many programs to help you with just that depending on what city you live in.....

You probably need a tutor. It seems like maybe you need to exercise a little more discipline when it comes to studying, listening to what is taught in class and doing your homework and/or turning it in.

If your parents' response is to continually ground you and that isn't solving the problem, then they need to take you to a doctor to see if you have ADD or ADHD and deal with that accordingly. You also need a tutor to help with your homework and to help you understand what you are being taught in school.

You should talk to your parents about what I've just told you. There is no reason for everyone to be out through the wringer when your problems could probably very easily be solved with a little help.

As long as you are trying. Now don't try and lie to yourself. if you are earnestly doing the work and not just puttin it off for friends, TV, games, or whatever else distracts people, than you need to talk to them. Grounding you for getting B's or C's instead of A's, then that needs a good talkin too. you need to express your feelings.

But if you aren't just doing the work, this is their way of telling you that you need to get priorities strait. Take it from me. I wish i took my parents more seriously in highschool when they were riding me. i graduated, but i'm still struggling because i am having a hard time with school, and the alternative work you will do without proper education is hard. You can survive, but believe me, its tough.

You can't "seem" to bring your grades up? You sound spoiled and lazy. Grounding you is a good start, but your folks should make sure you spend that home-time studying, not yakking on the phone or watching TV. Good luck - you'll need it when you get out of school!

I had that problem when I was in high school. I have a severe math learning disability. What I did was proved to my mom that I was a loner and had nowhere to go or nothing to do. She never grounded me anymore because she figured "Whats the point"?.

Ps. I never got my grades up either.

I changed schools :D

Remember alot of the time its the teachers.

You need talking to. Have them get you a tutor. Like the first answerer said, good grades are something you will not regret.

Thumbs up to your parents.

The question is are you working or goofing off. If you are goofing off then Obviously they need to do more then ground you. No phone, no TV no nothing.

If you are working, maybe you should be tested for learning disabilities or should spend the summer at a tutor.

Your comment about them needing a talking too hints to me that you are not working to your capability.
