Family - June 2006

My Dad is VERY cold and distant and I feel he was never really there for me growing up, he never spoke to me although we lived in the same house. Im now 20. I sent him a text for Fathers day and he unsuprisingly didnt reply even to say thanx, and hasnt got us Christamas presents for the last two yrs at least. He sometimes walks off when I am talking to him and I have to address him directly and loudly to get him to answer me. Even then I CANNOT get him to talk to me for longer than 5 mins, EVER. I'm obvuiously not happy with this any ideas what i can do to change things? I have tried taking to him and gradually building it up but it seems to make him uncomfortable. I dont understand what Ive done to deserve this all my life, how should I go about expressing myself or what can I do? I have been angry with him in the past but I have decided I want to make the effort or I might risk never speaking to him when I'm older.

when she is with her dad and me she hangs with us and her dad lets her stay up late someitme untill 1 am then she sleeps untill 12:30 pm interups and never says please,thankyou, and mopes around

I no longer live with my family, but when I did my life was a literal he**. My stepmother (who has two "perfect" daughters of her own), was a tyrant. When my dad and her got married I went through the normal problems a young girl recently estranged from her mother and forced to accept someone new as her mother would go through. As punishment for this my stepmother would lock me in my room and take away all entertainment. When I turned 12 she sent me away to a boarding school and I was moved around from school to school away from my family until I was 18. I only saw my dad 4 times through all of those years. Now that I have been liberated my stepmother will not allow me to contact my dad to tell him my new number or anything (she intercepts his e-mails and mail from me). I know she is only with him for his money and she even made him get better life insurance! How do you all suggest I get in contact with him? I am out of ideas, I have tried everything.

My child has one older sibling and two younger siblings. Both mom and dad spend quality time with all of the children. He does this usually when he is feeling drowsy or lying down. When he was less than a year old, we placed our baby in child care as both parents worked for 3 months but is was not everyday. There was another older child that sucked her thumb while he was in childcare.

Both of my toddlers feel more comfortable in their diapers. They both know when they go and even asked to be changed sometimes. However, it seems that they are not interested ina toilet training schedule at all. They are resistive to sitting on the toliet.

I got into a really bad argument with him over the phone and he basically told me that I was a horrible daughter because I never spend time with him and only call when I want something. I started crying and he was screaming at me and then he goes "You know what? Call me back when you can actually act normal. Bye." And hung up. I have to call back, but I don't know what to say to him.

if you found out, your sister was calling your husband, and trying to sleep with him?i have disowned her, but my whole family says i need to forget it and forgive her. but i cant. i have been married to my husband for 21 years. i dont know if anything ever happen, between them, he said it didnt. but i know how men are. i just dont trust her, dont want her around me or my family, but my mom and dad and three of my brothers are really, acting shittie toward me. because of the way i feel.shes in a bad marriage, and has been married 6 times and will go to bed with anybody.her bad marriage was her excuse for calling my husband, because her husband doesnt satisfy her in bed. sorry this got so long, but this has really hurt me.

Ok, I recently asked a question because I had caught my mom smoking pot a few times and when I confronted her about it she told me to just leave her alone and that she was stressed (my dad died from that crap like 2 years ago by the way). Well, she broke up with her boyfriend of 10 months last night and I caught her doing it again today. But thats not all, she is being cruel to me. She is being mean and making me do things. I've already mowed our huge lawn w/ a push mower in the 90 degree heat, cleaned (and I mean with a toothbrush pretty much) our whole house. I'm completely worn out and now she wants me to clean out the cluttered garage.......what should I say to her? What could I do? My grandmother told me to pray, but what should I do in the mean time?

my husband was laid off and had to take a much lower paying job and we are having a baby. we are going to rent a house from my parents. they are treating us like we are stupid and poor while they are "helping us." living there is super-cheap and will help us pay off bills, but we feel harassed.
