I did the same thing. Make sure you lie down the rules that you are the rentee and your parents are the renters. You are adults and your own family. If this helps you in the long run towards financial stability it will be worth it. My mom stills lives next door, what a great babysitter. You might find that this arrangement has more benefits than you think. GOOD LUCK!

I think it's nice that they want to help... and I think it's good that you have someone to turn to. If you have ANY other way of getting a place that you can afford or maybe some assistance until you get back on your feet again... I'd do that. I rented from my parents and it was a nightmare! I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone. You feel forever in their clutches so-to-speak.

I have been there. I even lived under the same roof as my mother-in-law. You grin and bare it. Trust me just work to get back on top. You'll make it. And you will appreciate it. Just always think that there is a future. You got out of their grasp once you will DO IT again.

suck it up? they may be telling you what you need to hear. albeit not in a proper manner. they may also feel worse as to how they raised you or not. they're taking out their own short comings on the fact your hubby and you couldn't ride out the storm life threw at you. living well is the best revenge. so, do what you can and need to do to get yourselves back in a better position and out from under their roof and abuse! but at no time no matter how well someones treating you, or how needy you are. don't take abuse especially those closest to you.

Sign a "lease" with them. It will protect your privacy and then they cant jack the rent up when your husband finds a better job.

When you accept charity, you also have to accept the sermonizing that goes with it. Just keep thanking them for helping you out and striving to improve you condition. It's a small price to pay.

Beggars can't be choosy. You do what you need to do, and you suck it up to your parents until you can save enough money to move out of the house. You should be grateful that they are doing this for you - otherwise, where would you be?
