My boyfriend does not want to buy me an engagement ring, he says that he does not want to spend $ on one, and that I should use the ring my grandmother gave me as an engagement ring. He says it's stupid that the man has to buy the woman a ring, and why can't I buy him an expensive ring instead. My mom says that if we use my grandmother's ring, that my boyfriend would not be giving me anything from himself, I would just be using a ring that I already had. I feel like if he really loved me he would save up to buy one, and that he should pick it out himself to make it special, I don't care the cost, just that he would put in the effort, is that wrong?

She decided to stop seeing each other after 4 months of seeing each other earlier last year, but she knew I really liked her, and I treated her so well and was such a nice guy to her, but she wasn't ready for a relationship (she'd just broken up months before from a long 5yr relationship).

Mid-summer we met up briefly, she seemed to want to see each other again, but after getting my hands-burnt previously (she broke my heart), I couldn't get close again so ignored her calls and so contact phased-out between us, until she tried calling months later in October. I ignored that, but decided to wish her Merry Christmas by SMS, and told her I still think of her, to which she replied "well, we haven't seen each other much lately... :-)... " and so I told her I still liked her, she replied she still likes me too, and perhaps we should meet up.

Not sure whether that's a good idea... (I'm afraid of getting hurt again). Any thoughts or tips on working this out would be really appreciated.

My boyfriend and I broke up yesterday. I was expecting to me really sad and cry and pout like I normally do, but after he broke up with me, I felt strangely happy. I was, and still am feeling, hyper and carefree. Instead of feeling sad and crying, I was rolling around laughing and felt happier than I had in a long while.

My boyfriend and I had been having problems, fighting, he had been ignoring me. I wasn't happy, but I really really liked him.

Is it possible I just reacted out of reflex to be so happy? Or do you really think I could actually be that happy after such a sad breakup? Is it possible I could be hiding my feelings and later they will emerge? Or is it actually possible to be that happy?

My boyfriend and me are going to Scotland at the end of Jan and we'll be staying near Gretna. We've been joking that we'll come back married and we've always said we'd elope. I've been looking for info on Gretna Green but it doesn't seem to be as exciting or spontaneous as I've always thought it was supposed to be. I have this guy that says that he likes me so we tried going out. It didnt work because i am not the relationship type. Anyway, he tried to test me by ignoring me on New Years and his cousin was really friendly with me. And I told my ex that the only reason why i stayed till 4:30am was because his cousin and i were having a good time. Noothing happened between his cousin and i, but mainly i am asking if you feel that it makes sense for him to test me if we are just friends. also, i am 19 and him and his cousin are 18. if you have storied that you want to share than feel free. I have known my husband for 11 years. For 10 of those years we had been dating, and we have been married for 1 year. I am thinking of leaving, because I don`t feel that he respects me. I know that she won't hate me, more than half of her friends are lesbians. However, I want to do it gently. We've been going out for three weeks and I just got back from winter break so calling it off now would be sudden enough. But on top of that, she'd be told that I'm gay? Once again she won't really mind that I'm gay but those two things coupled together, I just don't want her to get hurt. We've only been together for almost 4 months, and he is wonderful to me, but he is very secretive about his myspace. I cannot look at it because it is set up as private and he does not have me as a friend, and I know he has a bunch of girls on there. There is no doubt in my mind about that. My dad used to abuse my mother. We've been almost 4 years together, and we fight a lot because in a lot of situations it's like it's ok for him but not for me. I struggle for us to be equals and for my feelings to matter too. Everytime i feel sad about him being nasty to me, it ends up being my fault for nagging him with my sadness, and i'm not the kind that cries just for manipulation, i actually feel bad. I've been noticing that he doesn't really enjoy doing things with me, and that it's not important to him if he sees me or not, i tried to talk to him about it but he told me i was nagging him and that if i wanted him to love me i should earn it, and if i don't like the way he treats me that i should leave.I think he's acting the way his parents treat him, he's told me that he wants to have a 'team' thing going on in his house but that his parents don't cooperate, that he's not asking them to do what he says, but that he wants fairness. He seems to understand the concept but when i ask it of him, he refuses.

After my 90 secs. he "lost signal" He was at a party w/dad 15 miles from my house. (dad lives 45 miles from my town) he didn't call or invite me. I wouldn't have gone. I forbid my kids from seeing those people. Mom's a drunk, son's on drugs & daughter's town 'ho. Dad never says "no" I called this morning & as usual he picked a fight, I hung up. My friends, therapist & several family members said to give up on him. I will always love my son. But what else can I do?

I live with parents and help foot the bills. My boyfriend come home and feeds,eats, sleeps etc especially when he's on vacation. If he's a guest O.k. but should I be getting financial compensation[sexual does not help my pocket] for this accomodation?

When my parents are out of state he lives here and still ocnsiders himself a guest. Guests don't pay for hospitality.

After 3 years of this is he still a guest?

He said that the relationship was awesome and that there was no one else but just said that he doesnt want to hang out anymore. He never let me meet his mom when we were going out. Could that have something to do with it? Because I know that he likes me a lot and said so himself but he just did this unexpectedly. What should I do about it?
