She decided to stop seeing each other after 4 months of seeing each other earlier last year, but she knew I really liked her, and I treated her so well and was such a nice guy to her, but she wasn't ready for a relationship (she'd just broken up months before from a long 5yr relationship).

Mid-summer we met up briefly, she seemed to want to see each other again, but after getting my hands-burnt previously (she broke my heart), I couldn't get close again so ignored her calls and so contact phased-out between us, until she tried calling months later in October. I ignored that, but decided to wish her Merry Christmas by SMS, and told her I still think of her, to which she replied "well, we haven't seen each other much lately... :-)... " and so I told her I still liked her, she replied she still likes me too, and perhaps we should meet up.

Not sure whether that's a good idea... (I'm afraid of getting hurt again). Any thoughts or tips on working this out would be really appreciated.

Meet up. It want hurt you. All you have to do guide your feelings
hold back you don't have to wear your heart on your sleeves, just treat it as a friendship not an intimate relationship take it slow you have nothing but time when your developing a good relationship.

RED LIGHT!!!
do not meet her
she obviously just uses u to fill her emotional gap, she could seem nice and sweet and so on, and she could say she likes u, but only checking on u every 2 months means her feelings r not that strong, she broke ur heart once and she is obvioulsy yet worthy of being with u. don't let her break it again!
