wild Coal fires in China burn 120 million tons of coal a year, emitting 360 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. This amounts to 2-3% of the annual worldwide production of CO2 from fossil fuels, or as much as emitted from all of the cars and light trucks in the United States

Global warming has happened many time before it just didn’t have creatures living on it at the time that where under the dilution that they were not part of the equation. As long as there is a want of money and power there will be people who think they are better then the rest of nature and have the right to do what they want regardless of the consequences. With that said the best we can do is if you care then do your best to make a difference. Do what ever you can as an individual to make it a better world. Global warming will grow unchecked our governments have proven time and time again that they are not interested in helping. So it is up to those who care to try and make the eventual climate change that will happen faster than the norm, to be one that we as part of the collective life of this planet can all survive.

A friend of mine is arguing that trees and the only renewable resource. I argue that food is a resource too, and it is renewable. He is arguing that food is nothing but food and is not a resource. I say if food is not a resource, try getting something done without it.

Give your opinion. Who is right? What are other renewable resources?

how is it possible to give an accurate date, how do they know if whether or not after a thousand years or so bones dont start detoriating and aging at a much more rapid pace and if not they are saying they are much older than they actually are

2nd question, if scientists think the worlds been around for 65 million years or whatever how come there arent any trees that are older than 4 or 5,000 years old, i know trees are constantly dying and being cutdown, but it seems like through out history there would at least be some trees older than that if the worlds Actually been around for as long as we think

People are fined for dropping litter on the ground but when they launch a helium filled balloon into the air it becomes litter when it lands. Many are swallowed by animals, particularly in the sea where they look like jelly fish which are food for turtles etc. Maunfacturers say latex balloons are biodegradable. However, they don't rot away and disappear they just degrade into small pieces and remain in the environment.

It is a fact that Man is accelerating this process, but nevertheless, Global warming caused by greenhouse gazes notably water vapor and CO2, happened many times before throughout earth's history. The main cause : Volcanos!! In my mind, the media, backed by some scientists omit this type of information, why? maybe because if you knew that global warming wasn't something new then it wouldn't be breaking news, and the media wouldn't be making money off of it.
Yes, some species will be extinct, but this also, is natural. Territories left behind by those extinct animals will be repopulated by new species, better adapted species.

The environmental movement is now mainstream. Smart Growth and New Urbanism is being practiced. Green Building and alternative energy are the rave. Mass transit is receiving high ridership. Ernest Callenbach's novel "Ecotopia" is still popular. Religion is embracing the environment. What will an ecologically-sustainable society be like? And could Northern California, Oregon, and Washington actually seceded to form a sustainable society?
