How to do a science project about does the amount of water affect the height of a wave?

I don't think the amount of water maters, its more to do with the debth of the ocean floor, that makes a wave tall. However you can build a wave maker out of a plastic box and tilt it back and forth to show the strength of the water in a wave...I'd like to see what you finally decide to do.
